Raising the horizons for the next generation is the goal at NBHD.

For too many young people they are surrounded by chaos and dysfunction. The answer is not to surround youth with youth, it is to create healthy ecosystems where family is the norm and where good things can be passed across the generations.

The above quote was shared by our good friend G while he stood looking at Mt Fuji with a young person. The statement puts words to a philosophy that is critically important. Raising the horizons for a young person helps them to see the potential that is in them. It gives them a glimpse of what they have to offer and that is a foundational start to helping them lead a life of passing on good things.

One way or another we are going to pass things on to others. If we carry trauma and pain, that’s what we will pass on. If we carry joy and goodness, that’s what we will pass on.

Everyone has skills, everyone has a story, everyone has things to pass on.

The philosophy at NBHD is a simple one, pass on the good that you carry to others, particularly the next generation.

Many of the young people we work with are where they are because they have not been passed on too many good things.

We want to be a part of the change.
