Australia’s continued support for Ukraine is deeply appreciated by our community.

This assistance has been strengthened by years of tireless advocacy undertaken by leaders within the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations and its member organisations, including the Ukrainian Community of Queensland. We are proud of the efforts of our President, Peter Bongiorni, and Vice President, Adam Miljenovic, who, alongside the UCQ Management Committee and many others across Australia, have consistently engaged with Federal MPs, Senators and decision-makers to help ensure Ukraine remains firmly on Australia’s agenda.

🇦🇺🤝🇺🇦 Australia has announced an additional $𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲, helping provide critical defence capabilities, including air defence systems and munitions, through NATO’s Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL).

This brings Australia’s total support for Ukraine to more than $1.8 billion, including over $1.6 billion in military assistance since Russia’s full-scale invasion began.

Australia also continues to train Ukrainian personnel through Operation Kudu and remains part of the Coalition of the Willing supporting a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.

The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) welcomes this ongoing commitment and thanks the Australian Government for standing with Ukraine.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to members of our community and our supporters across the country whose tireless advocacy, engagement and outreach efforts have helped keep Ukraine’s cause firmly on Australia’s agenda. Your voices continue to make a difference.

🎨 OPEN CALL FOR UKRAINIAN ARTISTS 🎨

The Ukrainian Community of Queensland is excited to invite artists from our community to participate in a very special project celebrating the 50th Anniversary of ECCQ - Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland.

As part of this milestone celebration, ECCQ is creating a collaborative artwork that brings together contributions from communities across Queensland into one unified design, showcasing the many cultures, traditions, and stories that have shaped Queensland over the past five decades. The final artwork will become part of ECCQ's commemorative branding and memorabilia for years to come.

This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Ukrainian culture, heritage, and creativity as part of Queensland's multicultural story.

We are seeking artists who can contribute a design element that reflects Ukrainian identity through meaningful symbols, patterns, motifs, or visual storytelling. Contributions should be suitable for incorporation into a larger collaborative artwork representing the many cultures that make up our state.

Artists may submit:
🔹 A digital artwork component (e.g. motif, symbol, pattern, or visual storytelling element)
🔹 Work that represents a cultural identity or symbol of meeting together or community
🔹 A design that can be merged harmoniously into a larger collaborative piece

This project celebrates:

🌻 Queensland's rich cultural diversity
🌻 The strength of our multicultural communities
🌻 The contributions of generations of people who have helped shape our state

Expression of Interest submissions are due by Sunday, 12 July.

🌿 Join our friends at Serve the City Brisbane for a Community Clean-Up Morning!

Volunteers from Serve the City have generously supported the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc. at a number of events, most recently at our Ukrainian Film Festival, so this is a lovely opportunity for us to give back and support them in return.

It will be a chance to spend a morning alongside families from communities right across Brisbane, to meet new people, share a little about who we are and what our community is doing, and give back to the city we call home.

It’s also a fun, hands-on morning for the kids, a great way to keep them busy outdoors while showing them what it looks like to care for our shared spaces and take pride in our community.

Це також чудова можливість провести ранок разом із родинами з різних громад Брізбена, познайомитися з новими людьми, розповісти трохи про те, хто ми є і чим живе наша громада, та віддячити місту, яке ми називаємо домом.

А ще це веселий і активний ранок для дітей, чудовий спосіб зайняти їх на свіжому повітрі й водночас показати, що означає дбати про наш спільний простір і пишатися своєю громадою.

🎬 Meet Ukrainian Actor Oleksandr Rudynskyi on the Gold Coast tomorrow!

Ukrainian actor Oleksandr Rudynskyi is currently filming a new Netflix production on the Gold Coast alongside Sydney Sweeney.

In a last-minute opportunity, Oleksandr found time to meet with the Ukrainian community, and we're delighted that he will join us this weekend on the Gold Coast!

During this special event, you'll have the chance to meet Oleksandr in person, ask questions, and watch the award-winning short film Rock, Paper, Scissors, in which he stars.

🎥 The film will be screened in Ukrainian with English subtitles.

🏆 Rock, Paper, Scissors won the 2025 British Academy Film Award (BAFTA) for Best British Short Film.

🎟️ The event is free to attend, however everyone is encouraged to support this important cause by making a donation via the QR code above.

All funds raised will be donated to support the medical service of the Da Vinci Wolves Battalion, a cause that Oleksandr actively supports.

🎬 That’s a Wrap – Ukrainian Film Festival Australia - Brisbane! 🇺🇦💙💛

Over the past five days, Brisbane audiences have joined us for an incredible journey through contemporary Ukrainian cinema — sharing stories of resilience, humour, identity, memory, love, and hope.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended screenings, brought friends and family, shared our posts, and helped create a welcoming space for meaningful conversations about Ukraine through film.

This festival would not have been possible without our amazing volunteers. Your countless hours, warm smiles, problem-solving, and behind-the-scenes dedication kept everything running smoothly. We are deeply grateful for your commitment and community spirit.
