As we prepare for AMT’s 2026 Christmas Gift Appeal, we’re looking back at some of the messages we received in 2025—words of gratitude that remind us what giving can mean for our mission workers and their families.

From providing for practical needs to offering reassurance during difficult seasons, your generosity helps workers continue serving, knowing they’re not alone.

“To receive that gift, with that message, at that time was a wonderful reminder that we are not alone here… that God continues to bless and provide—even on the hard days.”

“We are moved to tears knowing God sees the needs of our family and has provided wonderfully through you. We can now start 2026 free from these overdue bills.”

“Once again I see the Lord’s goodness in his provision for my needs.”

Every gift is part of something bigger. ❤️

This Christmas, would you consider being part of the story? Your generosity can help make a real difference in the lives of those serving across the world.

What does it mean to be ready to follow God’s leading?

In this week’s Serving Together article, Gavin and Janet Petersen share their journey of preparing for missionary service in Brazil. What they expected to happen within months took more than two years, teaching them patience, dependence on God and trust in his timing.

Through their experiences, they reflect on the importance of preparing practically for ministry, learning language and culture with humility, valuing prayer support, and remembering the families who share in the sacrifices of cross-cultural service.

Their story offers a valuable reminder: we can take faithful steps towards where we believe God is leading us, while remaining willing to stay if he closes the door.

What does the Bible say about storms?
Storms are unavoidable—in life, in ministry, and on the mission field. But Scripture reminds us that a storm doesn't mean God has abandoned us or that we've taken the wrong path.

Here are four truths to hold onto:

1. Sometimes storms just happen.
Not every difficult season is a sign that we've done something wrong. We live in a broken world, and none of us gets a completely storm-free journey.
“He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
Matthew 5:45

2. A storm doesn't mean you're off course.
Following God's call doesn't guarantee an easy journey. Jesus told His disciples plainly: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

For those serving cross-culturally, ministry can bring unexpected challenges, opposition, uncertainty and seasons of hardship. Difficulty doesn't necessarily mean it's time to turn back.

3. Let down the anchor.
When plans change and the way forward isn't clear, our hope isn't ultimately found in circumstances going according to plan. It's found in the One who called us.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
Hebrews 6:19

4. Look for God's peace in the middle.
We can pray for God to change the situation—and sometimes he does. But mission doesn't always mean waiting for the storm to pass before we keep going. Sometimes God's peace meets us right in the middle of it.
“He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.”
Psalm 107:29

💬 What has God taught you about trusting him when the journey doesn't go according to plan?

What would you say to your younger self before taking a step of faith into the unknown?

In this week’s Serving Together article, Belinda Lamprecht writes to the 21-year-old version of herself who was leaving Australia for South Africa to serve with OM—initially thinking it would be “only two years”.

Looking back, Belinda reflects honestly on what following Jesus into missions has cost her, from career opportunities and financial independence to hopes for relationships and family. But she also reflects on the many blessings that came through surrender, dependence on God and allowing Jesus to work through her weaknesses.

Her reflection on Jesus’ teaching about counting the cost in Luke 14 points to an important truth: we cannot follow him in our own strength. The cost is beyond what we can pay on our own—but that is precisely where dependence on God begins.
