National Volunteers Week

Emu Focus - Meg Rees, Jonty Harris, Stan McDonnell

Before we take a look at these 3 Volunteers, we like to acknowledge that there are many more that we haven’t mentioned! Thank you to all our loyal Volunteers, whom without we could not operate.

Meg joined our ranks as a part of the Women’s Team in 2021. She’s most recently joined the the executive committee in 2026 as our secretary. She also committed to helping coordinate our big events - Ladies Day & Presentation Dinner. She’s a bright presence around the club with a positive attitude to getting things done!

Jonty is a past Player and Risdon Cup Winner. In the 2022 Grand Final Jonty sustained an unfortunate serious injury that would ultimately end his playing career. Since then he’s committed to being our Strength and conditioning coach, making sure our men and women are among the fittest on the Downs! He’s a dedicated coach with a tight knit relationship to the playing and coaching group.

Stan McDonnell has been a part of the furniture for quite some time. He’s been involved with the Emus since the 90s as player, coach, committee member and supporter. It’s his most recent work as a Medical officer that many will know him for. He’s always at Training & games making sure our players, and opposing players have the utmost care in a tough playing environment. Not only this but he’s constantly organising doctor & physio appointments for injured players, to help with their return to play protocol.
