The Sunshine Coast is a key site for migratory shorebirds, which arrive in September, flying over 10,000 kilometres non-stop from Arctic breeding grounds in Alaska and Siberia.
MRL has some very keen birders!! Two of our dedicated volunteers, Rod and Eileen invite you on a walk in Minyama on Sat 19th September. The walk will take about 2 hours and there is a bit of rough scrambling to get into the mangroves (and rubber boots might be handy).

Although not a prime spot for shorebirds, the Mooloolah River is often visited at low tide. There are generally a good range of foreshore/forest birds and we should see a few migratory birds on the mud flats - the mangroves are quite thick.
This walk requires a level of fitness and mobility due to uneven and soft ground.
