Bootstraps - For Those Who Have Laced Up A Boot In Service To Our Country Our facility in Gatton serves as a gathering place for veterans of all ages and members of the community to come together and craft beautiful leather items.

It fosters a supportive environment where creativity flourishes and connections are made. Located in the scenic Lockyer Valley town of Gatton, we offer leather work classes which are provided to support veterans and the community dealing with mental health and physical injuries. These classes aim to help participants relax, build a supportive network, and reconnect with others and to assist in the prevention of su***de.

✨Meat Tray Raffles Tonight - Saturday 30 May, 2026! ✨

Come and join us tonight at Porters Hotel Plainland, we're kicking off Saturday night with some chances to win big!

We will be doing meat tray raffles starting at 6:30 PM. So come in and support Bootstraps and the Veteran community - unwind, enjoy good company and food, and maybe even take home a delicious prize. We will have 2 x meat trays plus 2 x $100 Porters Hotel Gift Cards to raffle.

More productivity in the workshop this week!

Geoff has finished the bridle, following our Bridle Making course guidelines, and the result is fantastic. Stay tuned, as we’ll be holding an open Bridle Making class in the not too distant future.

Jenny has also been busy, finishing her round knife cover and creating a neat little holder for her sewing and lacing needles, practical and well crafted.

Meanwhile, Lani got some one on one expert tooling lessons from Ken.

Thinking about learning a new skill? Now’s your chance.

Bootstraps, in conjunction with Learnivation Pty Ltd (RTO 45570), is now offering the MST20319 Certificate II in Leather Production, an entry-level qualification designed to get you started in the world of leathercraft.

You’ll explore different types of leather and develop practical skills to design and create your own products, including handbags, belts, horse tack, and more. With guidance from qualified trainers, you’ll learn through hands-on, creative experience in a fully supervised environment.

This course is perfect if you’re looking to build skills for working with hides, skins, and leather processing, or if you’re interested in producing leather goods.

Course Details:
• 1 day per week for 12 months
• In-class delivery
• Combination of theory and hands-on learning
• Fully supervised training
• Open entry – no prior experience needed
