This week isn’t just about recognising our volunteers, it’s also about recognising the incredible crews who work alongside us and help bring all our volunteers together.

Within our Avation operations the MLVT Support Brigade works closely with many pilots and aerial firefighting aircraft throughout the fire season, but especially with the team from Fred Fahey Aerial Services.

We are incredibly lucky to have Damian as part of the MLVT Support Brigade team. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to supporting both the brigade and the community.

Last season, Damian stepped up to run the airbase operations during the Cashmere Road Fire, playing a key role in supporting aviation operations.

Congratulations Damian on your new role, and thank you for everything you continue to do for the brigade and our community.

This week is National Volunteer Week, a time to recognise and thank the incredible volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting communities across NSW and Australia through the .

Here at the Mid Lachlan Valley Team Support Brigade, our Aviation & Communications crews, we are proud to stand alongside the nearly 70,000 volunteer members who give their time, skills, and commitment to helping others. Whether it’s supporting operations from the airbase, managing communications during incidents, assisting behind the scenes, or responding on the frontline, every role plays an important part in keeping our communities safe.

The 2026 theme, “Your Year To Volunteer”, celebrates the amazing contributions volunteers make every day while encouraging others to get involved in a way that works for them.

Throughout this week, we’ll be sharing photos and stories from our brigade members, showcasing the people, teamwork, and dedication that make the MLVT Support, Aviation & Communications teams so special.

As temperatures drop across our region, the risk of house fires increases especially from heaters, fireplaces, and electric blankets. The members of the Mid Lachlan Valley Team Support Brigade are reminding everyone to take a few simple steps to keep your family safe this winter.

A working smoke alarm can save lives. When you’re asleep, you may not smell smoke, but a smoke alarm provides the early warning needed to escape safely.

✅ Test your smoke alarms regularly
✅ Replace batteries if needed
✅ Ensure every level of your home is protected
✅ Keep heaters at least one metre from anything flammable
✅ Never leave fires or heaters unattended

Stay warm and stay safe from all of us at the Mid Lachlan Valley Team Support Brigade 🚒
