BUSHFIRE DANGER PERIOD BEGINS 1ST OCTOBER
As of the 1st of October, Fire Permits will be required throughout the Mid Lachlan Valley District (incorporating Forbes, Parkes, Lachlan & Weddin LGA’s) for all fires through until 1st April 2027.
During the Bushfire Danger Period, you must obtain a permit for the property on which you intend to burn. You are also required to provide 24 hours' notice to all direct neighbours and to the RFS (Mid Lachlan Valley Fire Control Centre on 02 6852 5600 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) or online at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify
To contact your local Volunteer Permit Officer, please call 02 6852 5600 and speak with our Mid Lachlan Valley FCC staff. They'll be able to provide the details of your local permit officer, who will help you as soon as they are available. Permits are also available online at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify
Please keep in mind that our Permit Officers are volunteers who juggle their time between work, family, and the RFS. They may not be able to respond to you immediately, so please be patient and allow them reasonable time to issue you a permit.
If your property is within a Fire and Rescue district, you can apply via the Fire and Rescue website at https://www.fire.nsw.gov.au/page.php?id=200
There are heavy penalties if you don't follow restrictions or rules.

🔥 Thank You, Forbes Community! 🚒

A big thank you to the Forbes community for giving us the opportunity to share information about how you can stay fire safe. Being prepared is one of the most important things we can all do as we head into the upcoming fire season.

☀️ With the weather warming up, we’ll be sharing some simple tips and information on our page over the coming weeks to help you prepare your home, property and family for the fire season.

🚒 We’re also looking for new members to join our Support Brigade!

While our Support Brigade members may not always be directly on the fireground, they play an important role in supporting our frontline firefighters. Some of the ways we assist include:

👨‍🚒 Refilling firefighting aircraft with water and retardant so they can get back in the air and continue supporting crews on the ground.
👨‍🚒 Operating communications equipment to help keep crews connected and informed.
👨‍🚒 Providing logistical and operational support to help ensure firefighters have what they need on the frontline.

There are many ways you can contribute to the NSW RFS, and you don’t necessarily need to be on the end of a hose to make a difference.

If supporting your local community sounds like something you’d be interested in, we’d love to hear from you.
