What do farmers need to unlock their soil carbon potential (and help Australia tap into its most underutilised net zero asset)? 🌏

While Australian soils could deliver billions of dollars in ACCU revenue and boost agricultural productivity and regional economies, many farmers ask:

📈 Can we reliably build soil carbon?
🕰️ How do we keep carbon in our soil for the 25-year permanence period?
👍 Who can we actually trust?

To unlock our soil carbon potential, Australia needs trusted advisors.

✅ Advisors who have in-depth training in soil carbon science and how it informs practical farm management.
✅ Advisors who are accredited by our national soil science association.

That's where the partnership between Soil Science Australia and Soil C Quest comes in. 🤝 Together, we've created an accreditation program and training pathway to provide the certainty farm businesses need for informed decision-making.

In our joint webinar with Soil Science Australia you'll hear from:

🔬 Edward Scott about the Soil Science Australia RSP-Soil Carbon Accreditation: who are the leading soil carbon scientists that developed these professional standards, and how do you get accredited?

🎓 Guy Webb about the SoilCQuest Masterclass in Growing Soil Carbon: what does it mean that this training course is a pathway to the RSP- Soil Carbon Accreditation, and what's in the Masterclass?

🌾 Dr Susan Orgill about a management concept that's critical for long-term soil carbon: how step-wise farm practice change can reset the soil carbon equilibrium;

🦠 Dr Adam OToole O'Toole bust a soil carbon science myth: the fast cycling of carbon by microbes is actually the key to how stable, long-term soil carbon is formed.

How do we build trust in soil carbon?

Join the conversation with industry leaders in the Soil Science Australia and Soil C Quest joint webinar:

🖥️ Building Trust in Soil Carbon: Myth-busting and integrity through training and accreditation.

Australian agricultural soils offer significant carbon sequestration potential, but unlocking this requires managing complex risks and the 25-year permanence requirement. Overcoming industry uncertainty and building producer trust relies on credible, evidence-based guidance and strong professional standards.

To help address this need, Soil Science Australia developed the Registered Soil Practitioner – Soil Carbon (RSP-SC) accreditation, certifying advisors to provide reliable and risk-aware soil carbon services. SoilCQuest developed the online Masterclass in Growing Soil Carbon, mapped against the RSP-SC standards as a practical learning pathway toward accreditation.

This webinar will explain these initiatives, microbial carbon pathways, and the practice changes needed to manage soil carbon dynamically and responsibly.

Hear from leading soil carbon specialists:
• Edward Scott CPSS, Soil & Land Co
• Guy Webb, SoilCQuest / Loam Bio
• Dr Adam OToole O’Toole, SoilCQuest
• Dr Susan Orgill, Impact Ag Australia

Online panellists Alison Carmichael and Erika Van Schellebeck will also join the discussion to answer questions relating to the RSP-SC accreditation and SoilCQuest Masterclass in Growing Soil Carbon.

📅 Wednesday 17 June 2026, 12pm - 1pm AEST
💲Free for SSA members and those enrolled in the SoilCQuest Masterclass
$60 for non-members

What does four years of research from 1,700 regenerative farms across the United States tell us about soil carbon and health, effective rainfall, and ecosystem function?

At the recent Wilmot Field Day, agronomist Dr Allen Williams shared pre-published data (Lundgren et al. 2026) suggesting that:
🐄 Soil carbon was 4 times greater on farms that implement Adaptive Multi-Paddock (AMP) grazing management;
🟤 Soil aggregate depth increased from 5 to 37 cm;
💧 Effective rainfall was 2.3 times greater;
🍄 Soil fungi population increased by 176%;
☘️ Plant species diversity increased by 123%;
🧽 Water infiltration and water retention increased by 300- 500%;
🐝 Beneficial insect diversity increased by 33%.

Scientist Dr Jonathan Lundgren highlighted the significance of these results (above) from the Ecdysis Foundations's 1000 Farms Initiative:

“If we were to convert all the croplands in North America to fully regenerative practices, it would offset 2 years' worth of the United States total annual emissions...If we were to convert all of the rangelands in North America to fully regenerative, another 4.5 years worth of total emissions. Not just from the farm, from all of society in North America”. - Dr Jon Lundgren, Founder of Ecdysis Foundation

As a research institute focused on soil carbon, Soil C Quest is looking forward to this article ‘Lundgren et al. (2026). Regenerative agriculture: connecting soil carbon storage, biodiversity, and profit’ being published.

SoilCQuest had the pleasure of having our first stall at the Wilmot Field Day 🐄🥼

Our team joined more than 350 farmers, researchers and advocates from across the sector for a day focused on regenerative agriculture and the future of farming.

A highlight was hearing from Dr Jonathan Lundgren, founder of the U.S. Ecdysis Foundation, who shared insights from their groundbreaking 1000 Farms Initiative. https://www.ecdysis.bio/1000-farms

One of his messages was simple and powerful: when we take care of biodiversity, the carbon takes care of itself.

We were also proud to share our newest field day extension resource, The Australian Farm Soil Carbon Toolkit. This easy-to-digest eight-page booklet uses the engaging graphics from our soil carbon courses to introduce the science of soil carbon and practical actions farmers can take on their land.

A great two days connecting and continuing the conversation around practical, science-backed soil carbon solutions.
Thank you to Macdoch Foundation Impact Ag Australia and Atlas Carbon for this standout field day in the Australian Ag calendar.
