📢 COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT: Ground Penetrating Radar Survey Results. What lies beneath?

The highly anticipated results of the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey of Pioneer Cemetery are ready to be shared with the Forbes community.

You are invited to join us for a public presentation outlining the findings of the report. This is a unique opportunity to understand the technology used, look at what the radar detected, and ask questions about the survey's outcomes.

🗓️ When: Thursday, 23rd July 2026
⏰ Time: 6:00 PM
📍 Where: Council Chambers, Forbes

The seated soldier is Edward Gillard of Forbes. We believe the soldier standing might also be from Forbes.

Carolyn Compton is looking to find out the names of these two people from a 1938 photo taken in Papua New Guinea.

Carolyn believes they may be related to her Great Uncle Frank Evans who married her grandmother's sister, Anges Evans nee Brewster.

Francis "Frank" Campbell Evans was born in Forbes and he was a tailor. He also served in the Pacific in WW2. Frank and Agnes lived in Cessnock.

📣Seeking assistance

I would like to connect with descendants of two French Forbes settlers - Louis White [Le Blanc] (b 1824 France d 23/1/1896 Forbes, married Bridget Conner 1853 Goulburn) and Malot Guihot (b 18/12/1824 St Malo, France, d 24/1/1919 Forbes, married Elizabeth Robertson 18/3/1849, Goulburn).

These two Frenchmen travelled around with my French 2x times great grandfather Louis Francois Drouet (b 23/12/1823, Le Havre, France d 18/7/1910, Binda, NSW, married Ann Croker 8/5/1854 Goulburn) in the Binda/Crookwell area from 1846-1850s and were great mates.

My Louis Francois Drouet lived all his life in Australia in Binda.
I am undertaking family history and would like to find out more about these French Forbes settlers and adventurers my Louis Drouet was so friendly with.
