Amanda and Mel from our Dental team recently joined Snez on Plenty Valley FM 88.6’s Wellbeing Breakfast to chat about oral health and the importance of looking after your teeth and gums.

It was a great opportunity to share practical tips with the local community and talk about the dental services available at healthAbility.

As this year’s National Reconciliation Week draws to a close, today we celebrate Mabo Day. Uncle Eddie Mabo’s fight for First Nations land rights and challenging the historical myth of ‘terra nullius’ is one of the most significant chapters in our shared history, and his legacy continues to be felt to this day. 🖤💛❤️

You can learn more about Mabo Day and Uncle Eddie’s legacy here: Mabo Day - Deadly Story

In 2002, Aunty Bonita Mabo, Uncle Eddie’s wife, called for Mabo Day to be a national holiday, their son Eddie Mabo Jr, said: “We believe that a public holiday would be fitting to honour and recognise the contribution to the High Court ...

This National Reconciliation Week, we celebrate Yoorrook Justice Commissioner Travis Lovett. Travis is a proud Kerrupmara and Gunditjmara man who has spent the past 5 weeks walking more than 900 kilometres from Melbourne to Canberra. He delivered a simple yet powerful message: “Truth-telling is not about blame. It’s about healing.”

There are some fantastic events happening across Victoria over the course of this week. Find out what’s happening in your community here: https://www.reconciliation.org.au/calendar/

This year’s theme, All In, is a reminder that reconciliation is not something to watch from the sidelines. It calls on all Australians to listen, learn, take responsibility and be part of meaningful change.

For too long, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have carried the weight of championing, explaining and driving this work.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself. It takes commitment, accountability and all of us working together, every day.

National Sorry Day 26 May, From Sorry to Action.

The theme for this year’s National Sorry Day is From Sorry to Action. The call is clear, we must move from words to action, and this needs to happen now, not in another decade.

Acknowledging past harm is important, but acting to address it is critical. Sorry signals compassion, action delivers justice.

We encourage you to mark National Sorry Day on 26 May, and to stand with us to ensure this day is part of an ongoing commitment to truth-telling and healing.
