Today, 15 June, AFCS joins communities across the World in recognising World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
During our Philippine Independence Day celebration at Bunjil Place on 12 June, AFCS staff, volunteers, community members, local government representatives, and healthcare workers proudly wore purple ribbons in support of older people and to help raise awareness of elder abuse. Wearing purple or a purple ribbon is a symbol of solidarity with older people, representing wisdom, dignity, and independence.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is an opportunity for all of us to stand together against the abuse, mistreatment, and neglect of older people, and to promote communities where older people are respected, valued, and supported.
