Palliative Care South East is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers specialist palliative care services to people across the South East region of metropolitan Melbourne. We support people with a life-limiting illness to live well by offering support at home to improve the quality of life of individuals, carers and their families. Workforce wellbeing isn’t just an individual responsibility, it’s something we build together.

At Palliative Care South East, we are committed to:
~ supportive teams
~ open conversations
~ valuing wellbeing as much as clinical excellence

When carers are supported, care is stronger, kinder, and more sustainable.
This June, we honour the people behind the care - today and every day.

In palliative care, compassion runs deep - but no one can pour from an empty cup.

Recognising our limits is not a failure.
It’s an act of honesty, professionalism, and self‑respect.

At Palliative Care South East, we foster a culture where it’s okay to say:
“I need support”
“I need a break”
“I need to recharge”

Because sustainable care starts with cared‑for carers.

Caring for others is at the heart of what we do - but care is not limitless.

At Palliative Care South East, we believe rest is not a reward. It’s a necessity.

Pausing, stepping back, and taking time to recharge supports the best care - for our clients, families, and ourselves.

This month, we’re reminding our workforce and community that looking after yourself is part of caring well.

From humble beginnings…

PCSE first started in a small doctor’s office in Dandenong, with a big vision and a deep commitment to caring for our community.

Today, we are a team of over 100 dedicated staff and volunteers, supporting individuals and families through life’s most challenging moments.

This growth hasn’t happened by chance. It’s been made possible by the ongoing support of our community - your generosity, your time, and your belief in what we do.

Because of you, we can continue making moments matter every day

As we close out National Volunteers Week 2026, it’s important to also remember and recognise the unsung heroes who keep things running behind the scenes. The ones who show up quietly, lend a hand without being asked, and do the work that often goes unseen but never unappreciated.

Your contribution matters more than words can capture. You are the backbone of so many moments, big and small.

Thank you for your generosity, your time, and your heart. 💛
