We shared this video at our recent Sydney dinner event and wanted to share it more broadly, as an update on the work being carried out by our newest partner, Basma in Gaza.

This short video highlights the activities and support delivered through our partnership late last year, and the resilience of the communities Basma works alongside in incredibly difficult circumstances.

Thank you for being part of the indigo foundation community - helping us support locally led organisations creating lasting change. We hope you enjoy this update.

We're excited to share some wonderful news from our partner Uplift in India.

A few weeks ago, we introduced you to Sriharini, a young woman from a crowded Madurai slum community who was supported through Uplift's education and mentoring programs.

After completing school, Sriharini remained involved with Uplift as a tutor, helping younger students with their studies while pursuing her own education in Computer Science.

Along the way, she developed confidence, leadership skills and a determination to create a brighter future for herself and her family.

Today, we're thrilled to share that Sriharini has successfully completed her studies and recently secured a position with a bank.

This achievement belongs to Sriharini. It reflects years of hard work, perseverance and a commitment to making the most of every opportunity available to her.

It is also a reminder of what can happen when local organisations like Uplift walk alongside young people, providing encouragement, mentoring and pathways to education.

As we approach the end of the financial year, we're celebrating stories like Sriharini's and the communities helping make them possible.

Opportunity shouldn't depend on where you're born.

When Sobana finished school, she believed her education journey was over.

Raised in difficult circumstances after losing her mother as a baby, she lacked the financial support and guidance needed to continue studying. Like many young people from marginalised communities in India, higher education felt beyond reach.

But through PEAB's Village Education Centre, Sobana found mentors who encouraged her to keep believing in herself and her future.

With support from local educators, she went on to complete both undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Social Work. Today, she works supporting vulnerable children and families through the District Child Helpline and is preparing for government exams to further her dream career in Public Service.

Her story is a powerful reminder that opportunity can change lives.

Across Village Education Centres, our partners in India supports more than 200 children, many of them girls, through after-school learning, mentorship and safe spaces where they can build confidence and pursue their goals.

This EOFY, your support will help create education and opportunity for girls, children and families through community-led programs in India and beyond.

Opportunity shouldn’t depend on where you’re born.

This End of Financial Year, we’re highlighting the inspiring work of our partners in India who are creating opportunities for girls and women through community-led education and support programs.

Through local learning centres, mentorship and safe spaces to learn, children are continuing their education, women are building confidence and independence, and communities are creating long-term change from within.

Young women like Sobana and Sriharini are among those shaping brighter futures through these programs - pursuing higher education, supporting their families and giving back to their communities.

Your support this EOFY will help strengthen locally led education and opportunity for girls and women in India and beyond - wherever support is needed most.

What a beautiful evening 💜

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday night for our Sydney dinner in support of our newest partner, .

Together, we raised over $15,000 — an incredible result and a wonderful start towards the support we hope to provide Basma this year.

More importantly, the night brought together an amazing community of people committed to solidarity, creativity and hope. From the delicious food, to the moving conversations, to the incredible dance performances, it was a truly special evening.

Thank you to our wonderful speakers Assala Sayara, Haneen and Ahmad for sharing your stories and reflections so generously. Thank you also to Addi Road for hosting us, the talented performers from Dahnoon Dabke, and all the volunteers who helped make the night possible.

As a small volunteer-run organisation, we are so grateful for the support of our community.

Thank you for standing with Basma and indigo foundation

On 9 May in Sydney, we’re honoured to welcome Assala Sayara as our guest speaker.

A Palestinian-born social worker, mental health practitioner and activist, Assala brings deep experience across Palestine, Jordan and Australia — and a powerful perspective on healing, justice and community.

She is also the founder of Haweyate, a grassroots platform fostering education, healing and resilience within the Palestinian diaspora and beyond.

On the night, Assala will lead a conversation with Haneen and Ahmad from Basma, sharing first hand insight into their work with children and families in Gaza.

Together, they’ll explore how creative programs are creating safe spaces for expression, emotional healing and hope, even in the midst of ongoing crisis.

Join us for an evening centred on conversation, culture and resilience.
