Friends of Lee Point

Friends of Lee Point The natural beauty and biodiversity at Lee Point is under threat. LEE POINT DESTRUCTION IS NOT OK. CCR has over 1M visits each year and is increasing.

Friends of Lee Point are a community based group of Darwin residents campaigning to have all land at Lee Point included in a NT Parks and Wildlife Reserve except the Resort/Caravan Park: The campaign is about having land at Lee Point rezoned to encourage the efficient use of land, infrastructure and services in Darwin. The land at Lee Point zoned as Future Development is next to biologically rich

Casuarina Coastal Reserve (CCR) encompassing vulnerable/endangered wildlife, plants, and has internationally significant shorebird sites. This valuable asset produces revenue from ecotourism and could be expanded: https://saveleepoint.org.au/lee-point-area-map-and-proposed-reserve-expansion/

Darwin needs sustainable development not an urban sprawl. We acknowledge that the Larrakia are the traditional owners of Lee Point and the land and surrounding sea require protection, management and respect from all.
