🏀 Congratulations to the 2026–27 U16 Boys Territory Development Program – Darwin Squad!

Basketball NT is proud to announce the 43 athletes selected to progress to the final round of trials for the 2026–27 U16 Boys Territory Development Program (TDP).
The standard at Round 1 was very high, and progressing to the final round is a fantastic achievement. Well done to every athlete on your hard work and commitment to date.
The final round of trials will be held this Saturday 31 October from 6:30pm at the Darwin Basketball Stadium. Final squad selections will be announced on Tuesday 3 November.
The TDP is part of Basketball NT’s development pathway that leads to the opportunity for selection in Northern Territory representative teams. We look forward to seeing this group compete on Saturday as they strive for selection to the final U16 Boys Territory Development Program for 2026–27.
A big thank you to the parents, guardians, coaches and clubs who support these athletes every step of the way.

🏀 Congratulations to the 2026–27 High Performance Girls Program!

Basketball NT is proud to announce the 22 athletes selected for this season’s High Performance Girls Program (HPGP).
The standard at trials was very high, and selection is a fantastic achievement. Well done to every athlete on your hard work and commitment to date.
Athletes will now commence on-court sessions twice per week and a guided strength and conditioning program. On-court sessions commence at the Darwin Basketball Stadium.
HPGP is part of Basketball NT’s development pathway towards Northern Territory representative teams. We look forward to seeing this group grow on and off the court this season.

Basketball NT and Hoops 4 Health AUS Pty Ltd join forces to take basketball to remote communities

Basketball NT has announced a formal partnership with Hoops 4 Health to deliver community basketball programs across the Barkly and MacDonnell regions, supported by funding from the Northern Territory Government.
Under the agreement, Hoops 4 Health will be Basketball NT’s exclusive delivery partner for the funded programs in both regions, bringing regular, high-quality basketball activities to remote communities that have historically had limited access to organised sport.
The partnership combines Basketball NT’s role as the Territory’s peak basketball body with Hoops 4 Health’s on-the-ground experience delivering programs in remote communities. Together, the organisations will use basketball to get young people and families active, connected and engaged.

Basketball NT CEO Mitch Duhig said the partnership was about building something that lasts.
“Basketball has a powerful place in communities right across the Territory, and remote communities should have the same opportunities to play, learn and be part of the game. Hoops 4 Health brings the experience and the relationships to deliver this well, and we’re proud to back them. Just as importantly, this partnership means the connections made on each visit can grow into ongoing basketball pathways in each community.”

Founder and CEO of Hoops 4 Health, Timmy Duggan OAM, endorsed the partnership, noting;
"For us at Hoops 4 Health, basketball has always been more than just a game, it's a vehicle for health, culture, and genuine community connection. Partnering with Basketball NT allows us to build on the relationships and trust we have nurtured over decades across the Territory. By bringing regular, consistent programming into the Barkly and MacDonnell regions, we are not just running clinics, we are creating a consistent presence that empowers our mob, re-energises local passion for the sport, and gives young people a genuine platform to grow on and off the court."
