❤️🙏 A Humble Request to My Fellow Australians, Territorians and Sikh and Punjabi Community

Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas are very special to our Sikh and Punjabi community.

I deeply respect our Sikh faith and Gurdwaras, but I feel some have become too involved in money, business and politics. This is my personal opinion.

❤️ I want my children to stay connected to our Punjabi culture, Sikh values and the true meaning of Seva.

On Diwali night, 8 November 2026, Sikh Family Food Van plans to distribute over 100 special meals, ice blocks, ice cream , juice and water to people in need across Darwin.

🙏 I only need a few volunteers. No money or food donations needed. I will cover all costs myself.

I would love to ask my fellow Australians, Territorians and especially my Sikh and Punjabi community:

Am I doing the right thing by celebrating our festivals through Seva instead of donating at Gurdwara Sahib?

Please share your honest opinions. I respect everyone’s views. ❤️

For me, bringing a smile to someone in need is the greatest blessing

ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਦੀ ਛੋੜ ਦਿਵਸ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਖਾਸ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਹਨ।

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਦਾ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਪੈਸੇ, ਵਪਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਉਲਝ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਰਾਏ ਹੈ।

❤️ ਮੈਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ, ਸਿੱਖੀ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ।

ਇਸ ਲਈ 8 ਨਵੰਬਰ 2026 ਨੂੰ ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਤ, ਸਿੱਖ ਫੈਮਿਲੀ ਫੂਡ ਵੈਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਡਾਰਵਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋੜਵੰਦ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ 100 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਖਾਸ ਖਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਪੈਕੇਟ, ਆਈਸ ਬਲਾਕ, ਆਈਸਕ੍ਰੀਮ, ਜੂਸ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਮੁਫ਼ਤ ਵੰਡਣ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਹੈ।

🙏 ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਕੁਝ ਸੇਵਾਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਪੈਸੇ ਜਾਂ ਖਾਣ-ਪੀਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਦਾਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ। ਸਾਰਾ ਖਰਚਾ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੇਬ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਟੈਰੀਟਰੀ ਦੇ ਭੈਣਾਂ-ਭਰਾਵਾਂ, ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਵਾਲ ਪੁੱਛਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਲੋੜਵੰਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ?

ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਅਤੇ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੀ ਰਾਏ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਦਿਓ। ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ❤️

ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਲੋੜਵੰਦ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ’ਤੇ ਮੁਸਕਰਾਹਟ ਲਿਆਉਣਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਹੈ। ❤️🙏

❤️🙏 Happy World Teachers’ Day from Sikh Family Food Van! 🍎🌹

A big thank you to all our wonderful teachers and school staff for their hard work, love and dedication to our children’s future.

At Sikh Family Food Van, we proudly support our local Darwin schools throughout the year, visiting different schools every week to provide free meals and treats for teachers, staff and students. ❤️

It’s our little way of saying thank you and bringing a few smiles to our school communities.

Teachers are the real heroes who shape our next generation. Let’s respect and appreciate them every day. ❤️🙏

Sadly, I feel that some Gurdwaras in Australia are becoming more about money, business and politics than faith and community service. I have seen these concerns in Darwin, Adelaide and Shepparton.

I believe the Sangat has the power to bring positive change. If people stop putting money into the Golak where they have concerns about how donations are used, those who are only interested in money and power may eventually walk away.

But I would never tell anyone to stop going to the Gurdwara. Our Gurdwaras are sacred places and a source of spiritual strength, peace and connection with Waheguru. 🙏❤️

I visit the Gurdwara daily, but I choose not to donate money or materials where I have concerns about accountability. I will always raise my voice against injustice, even if it means facing jail or risking my life.

I will never support violence, hatred or crime. My fight is always peaceful, through truth, honesty and courage.

For me, true Sikhism is about Seva, Simran, equality, love and standing up for what is right, not money, power or politics.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. 🙏❤️

❤️🙏 Another Beautiful Day of Love and Happiness! ❤️🙏

Today was very hot in Darwin, but luckily we had fresh watermelon to share during our free food run. 🍉❤️

Our free food run is more than just sharing meals. It brings people from different backgrounds together as one big family. We cook fresh food and all our volunteers enjoy the same meals we serve to our communities.

Seeing smiles on the faces of our kids, young people and elders is our greatest reward. Their love and blessings mean more than money. ❤️

Today we shared food, laughter, love and beautiful memories.

Different cultures, different backgrounds, but one humanity and one love. ❤️🙏

After a one-week break, we’re back with renewed energy to continue our free food service. 🙏

📍 Saturday | 10:00am–11:00am

🍛 Chicken curry with some mix
vegetables and rice
🍎 Fresh fruit
💧 Cold bottled water

We also serve Karama, Berrimah, Knuckey Lagoon and nearby areas.

❤️ Each week we support 250+ people, around 150 students, and provide free Monday lunches for school staff.

With the Council’s pre-cyclone clean-up cancelled, on weekends when we are not doing our food run, we’re happy to help elderly people and single mothers take suitable rubbish to the dump — free of charge.

Our Good Deeds on Wheels mobile kitchen is nearly ready to support communities during emergencies and natural disasters.

I love and respect our First Nations people from the bottom of my heart. They are the Traditional Owners of this beautiful land, and always will be. We are all one human family, and love, kindness and respect should always come first.

A big thank you to Sally from Aunty’s Free Feed in Palmerston for sending me a message to collect some chicken and cooking supplies from the YISSA kitchen for our free food runs. ❤️🙏

I went there and picked up the chicken and other useful cooking materials. I shared some chicken with families in my local Malak area and passed some on to Darwin Free Feed as well.

We have three wonderful groups serving our communities: Darwin Free Feed in the city, Sikh Family Food Van in the northern suburbs, and Aunty’s Free Feed in Palmerston.

The beautiful thing is that we all work together with love and respect. There is no jealousy, no competition and no pulling each other down. We support one another because our purpose is the same — helping people in need. ❤️

Sometimes I wonder how beautiful our communities would be if our politicians worked together like us. Instead of fighting each other, imagine if they sat around one table, respected each other and worked together to solve problems for all Territorians.

Our three groups have one simple motto: Serve all communities with love, kindness and respect, without any barriers of colour, race, religion or politics. ❤️🙏

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter who gets the credit. What matters is that no one goes hungry and our communities are cared for.

Humanity comes first, always. ❤️🇦🇺🙏

Today was my final goodbye to YISSA. 💔😢

This morning, some residents, staff and security were still there. It was a very emotional moment for me to say goodbye to a place that holds so many special memories in my heart. ❤️

Over the years, I have built a beautiful connection with the residents, staff and security. You are not just people I served, you have become part of my life. 🙏❤️

I made a promise to everyone that this is not the end of our journey. I will see you again around Darwin during my free food runs, wherever you may be.

I may be saying goodbye to YISSA as a place, but I am not saying goodbye to the people. My love, care and respect for you will always remain the same.

Places may close, but the beautiful connections we make with people stay in our hearts forever. ❤️🙏

Tomorrow is YISSA’s last day, and my heart is heavy. 💔

First, I want to make something clear: I gain no personal benefit if YISSA stays open, and I lose nothing personally if it closes and residents move around 100 kilometres away. My concern is for the people who call it home.

I understand that some people don’t want YISSA here. Politicians often feel pressure to keep voters happy, whether they are Labor or CLP. But decisions affecting vulnerable people need compassion too.

As a human being, I struggle to understand how moving sick First Nations people so far from Darwin will help them. How will they reach their treatment, appointments, families and support?

Most residents have done nothing wrong. The actions of a few should not decide the future of everyone. If alcohol and drugs are causing problems, surely we can work together to address those problems while caring for the people who need help.

Australia welcomes refugees and helps people from overseas. That compassion is something to be proud of. Surely we can extend the same care to our own First Nations people.

We hear about substantial government funding for First Nations services. I respectfully ask: how is that money being used, and is it reaching the people who need it most?

For 16 years, I have served First Nations people and Territorians. To me, these residents are people I know and care about. Their lives, dignity and wellbeing matter.

Please make these decisions with a human heart. Votes matter, but so do the people whose lives will change tomorrow. 🙏❤️
