A True ANZAC Day of Service and Love
Today was a public holiday, but our regular and new volunteers still gave their time to serve the community.
Some people were busy working and earning extra public holiday rates, and that is okay. But our volunteers chose to spend their day serving First Nations people and Territorians with love and respect.
A very special thank you to our new volunteer Vanessa Kaewtoon. She has an 18-month-old child at home, but she still came with us to Batchelor to serve food for flood-affected people. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts for her passion to serve First Nations people and Territorians.
Thank you also to the young couple Rewaj Dangal and Anjana Sharma. They also came with us to Batchelor to serve flood-affected people. They donated $150, used their own car, and paid for their own fuel. Sometimes people say temporary visa holders do not care about First Nations people or Australians, but this is a beautiful example that kindness has no visa status. Good people are everywhere.
Today, we celebrated ANZAC Day with First Nations people and Australians. I believe this is a true way to honour ANZAC Day β through service, respect, and unity.
Some sweet memories from todayβs food run.
A big thank you to Paul Burgess for baking a special cake. Everyone loved your cake. We truly appreciate your kindness. πβ€οΈ
