Tomorrow, Saturday the 23rd of May 2026, Cooma Brigade along with Shannon’s Flat and The Brothers Brigades, will be assisting a land owner with a large love grass burn in the vicinity of Bidgee Rd.
Starting at approximately 10am and to be concluded by 4pm.
Large amounts of smoke will be seen from surrounding areas for most of the day.
Please only call 000 if you see an unattended fire.

Cooma Brigade will be assisting land owners this weekend with burns on their properties in the Bunyan and Murrumbucca areas while weather remains favourable . Smoke will be visible from surrounding areas.

Today, the Cooma brigade assisted in burning out a large pile burn. The burn was located adjacent to the Monaro Hwy & Yallakool Rd.
The pile will remain hot for several days and fire and smoke could be possible but there is no need to be alarmed.

NSW Rural Fire Service, Cooma Brigade will be assisting Snowy Monaro Regional Council with a pile burn this Saturday 18 -19 April 2026, while conditions remain favourable.
This will be visible from the Monaro Highway and surrounding areas.

The HIGH Fire Danger Ratings continue over the Snowy Monaro for the next two days.
All Fire Permits are suspended during this time.

FIRE DANGER RATING UPGRADED TO EXTREME- FRIDAY 6TH FEBRUARY, 2026- SNOWY MONARO LGA
Please take note everyone, the Fire Danger Rating for the Snowy Monaro LGA has been upgraded to EXTREME in the last 30 minutes for today, Friday 6th February, 2026.
The Bureau of Meteorology has provided the following brief of the weather situation for our area today....
"Hot and dry conditions with moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds will drive extreme fire dangers during Friday afternoon over parts of southeast NSW.
Winds are expected to shift milder northeast to south easterly during the evening. Isolated thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon and bring a dry lightning risk."
Let's all take care outside today to ensure we do not cause any fire ignitions.

Yes, the HIGH Fire Danger Ratings continue over the Snowy Monaro for the next two days.

TOTAL FIRE BAN & HIGH FIRE DANGER RATING- SUNDAY 25TH JANUARY, 2026- SNOWY MONARO LGA.
Tomorrow, Sunday 25th January, 2026, there will be a TOTAL FIRE BAN in place across the Snowy Monaro LGA, which accompanies a HIGH FIRE DANGER RATING.
From midnight tonight until midnight Sunday night, all fires in the open are prohibited. This is all fires, including cooking and camp fires. Use of LPG barbeques and stoves can be used if safely clear of surrounding vegetation.
If you have a camp fire going this evening, it must be fully extinguished by midnight tonight, and no further camp fires can be lit until midnight Sunday night.
We want everyone to have a great and enjoyable Australia Day weekend, but most importantly, we want everyone to have a safe weekend.
We will greatly appreciate your assistance in making this happen for all our community.
