It’s not too late to get behind our 1st Cooma Scouts and help our Cubs and Scouts get to some absolutely amazing camps! 🙌

We’re fundraising to help our young people take part in some incredible opportunities this coming year, including Cuboree in April and Jamboree in December. These camps are about so much more than just camping — they’re about building confidence, making lifelong friendships, learning new skills and creating memories our kids will talk about for years to come. 💚

That’s a big expense for families, especially when we want to give every one of our young people the opportunity to attend these amazing events.

🏕️💚 1ST COOMA KIDS ARE OFF ON ADVENTURE! 💚🏕️

Four of our Cubs are braving the Canberra weather at ACT Cuboree, making friends, trying new things and creating memories they’ll be talking about for years! 🐻🌧️🏕️

Meanwhile, our Scouts are enjoying their own adventure at Jamborette in Cobargo ! 🏕️🔥

We can’t wait to hear all the stories — and see the questionable laundry — when they return! 😂🧦

🎟️💚 NOW WE NEED OUR COMMUNITY TO GET BEHIND OUR KIDS! 💚🎟️

These camps are HUGE opportunities for our young people. They get to step outside their comfort zones, learn new skills, build confidence, make friendships and experience adventures that simply can’t be recreated at a weekly meeting.

We want MORE of our 1st Cooma kids to have the chance to experience camps like these next year. 🏕️

💚 COMMUNITY HELPING COMMUNITY — PARTNERSHIP AT ITS BEST 💚

Tuesday was a pretty special moment for our 1st Cooma Scouts as we officially handed over our Go Bags to MCAS. 💚

So, what exactly are our Go Bags?

They’re practical bags filled with everyday essentials designed to provide a little bit of support when someone in our community suddenly needs a helping hand. Each bag includes things like toiletries, personal care items, food and other useful essentials — the simple things that can make a difficult time just a little bit easier. 🫶

And the best part? Our young people were involved in making them happen. They helped collect, sort, pack and prepare the bags, turning donations from our amazing community into something that can now directly help someone else.

This project has been a beautiful example of partnership at its best — our Scouts, Community Bank Cooma, MCAS and our amazing local community all coming together to make a difference. ❤️

A massive thank you to everyone who donated, contributed, supported and got behind our kids.

For our Cubs, Joeys, Scouts and Venturers, this has been about so much more than putting together Go Bags. It’s been about giving them the opportunity to see community in action and understand that we all have a part to play in looking after one another.

Seeing the bags finally handed over was such a proud moment. Our young people got to see that the time, effort and generosity of our community can turn into something that will genuinely help someone else.

And that’s the lesson we hope they take with them — giving back isn’t just something we talk about at Scouts, it’s something we do.

Thank you to our community for getting behind our youth and helping us teach the next generation what it means to care, contribute and give back.

🐺🔥 AND THAT’S A WRAP ON TERM 3! 🔥🐺

The last night of term was HECTIC for our young Cubs and Joeys — because apparently finishing the term quietly and calmly was never an option! 😂

We started the night with something a little more serious… the handover of our Community Go Bags to MCAS, made possible through our partner in Community, Community Bank Cooma. ❤️💙

Then it was straight from community service mode into TOTAL CHAOS with a blindfold teamwork challenge! 🙈😂

One Cub or Joey blindfolded, one teammate giving directions… and somehow we survived! There was plenty of trust, plenty of yelling and quite a few “NOOOO, GO THAT WAY!” moments. 🤣

Then came the campfire… 🔥

And naturally, we made s’mores! 🍫🔥

Well… we attempted to make s’mores.

Adult Helper Fox was put in charge of the fire and, in a stunning display of culinary confidence, managed to burn pretty much every single one. 😂🔥

Apparently “golden brown” means black and crispy in Fox’s world. 🤣

But amongst all the chaos, there was one VERY important moment…

🐺💚 WE HAVE A NEW WOLF ! 💚🐺

Kai has been coming along to Cubs for just one term and has already become a valued member of his pack.

So a HUGE BRAVO KAI! 👏🐺

Welcome to the Green Patrol! 🟢

What a way to finish the term — giving back to our community, teamwork, blindfolded chaos, questionable s’mores and a brand-new Cub finding his pack. ❤️💚

🌱🌳 GROWING A BETTER FUTURE – LANDCARE PLANTING! 🌳🌱

On Saturday 14 November, our 1st Cooma Scouts crew will be heading out with our awesome Landcare partners for another day of getting our hands dirty and giving back to our local environment! 💚

Planting trees might not sound like the wildest Scout adventure… but give us a shovel, a pile of mulch and a few kids who love getting dirty and suddenly it becomes a pretty great day! 😂🪏🌱

Being part of Scouts isn’t just about camping, hiking and learning new skills. It’s also about doing our bit for the community and environment — something that ties right back to our Scout Promise and our commitment to making a positive difference in the world around us. 🌏💚

Every tree we plant is a little investment in the future. It’s about creating habitat for wildlife, improving our local environment and showing our young people that even small actions can make a big difference. 🌿🦘

A huge thank you to our Landcare partners for continuing to give our Scouts opportunities to get involved, learn, contribute and — of course — get very muddy! 😆

♻️🎿 A BIG Snow Country shout-out! 🎿♻️

Today we collected our last lot of cans for the season! 🙌

We’d like to give a huge THANK YOU to Snow Country Ski Lodge Smiggins for choosing to donate their 10¢ recycling cans to 1st Cooma Scouts! 💚

All those cans, bottles and a little bit of recycling magic have added up to an amazing $300 raised for our Scouts! 🙌💰

Every 10¢ really does add up, and this fantastic support from our local community helps us keep providing great opportunities and adventures for our Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers. 🏕️🧭🏔️

🏔️ How lucky are we to live in the Snowy Mountains! 🏔️

Our Cubs and Joeys braved the cold and headed out for the Lamie Gorge walk — and what an adventure it was! 🥶🥾

We spotted wallabies and kangaroos, listened carefully for all the different frog calls, and kept our eyes peeled for even more wildlife. 🦘🐸👀 We might have even been lucky enough to spot a platypus… although we’re not making any official claims just yet! 😂🦆

We also stopped to learn about the drill holes and the original Snowy Hydro works, discovering a bit more about the history hiding right here in our own backyard. 💧🏔️

But the best part? Our Cubs and Joeys didn’t just explore — they gave back. 💚

While walking the trail, they collected rubbish that had been left behind by others and filled TWO garbage bags! 🗑️👏

A little cold, a lot of walking, plenty of wildlife and a great reminder that being a Scout means looking after the places we’re lucky enough to explore. 🌿💚

What a crew! 💪🥾

🌱🌳 SCOUTS + LANDCARE = MAKING A DIFFERENCE! 🌳🌱

On Saturday, GL Possum, Adult Helper Fox, Lucy and Phoenix headed down to Lions Park to join our scouting partners, Landcare, for a morning of getting our hands dirty! 🦺🌿

And what a morning it was — 134 trees planted! 🌳🌳🌳

There was plenty of digging, hammering, planting and mulching, with a whole lot of teamwork thrown in. 💪😊

One of the highlights was hearing the Landcare team tell us how proud they are of our two young Cubs. ❤️ Over the past two years, the cubs have come such a long way, and seeing them confidently getting stuck in, knowing how to safely get the plants out of the containers and safely into the ground.

A huge THANK YOU to Melinda, Kellie and the whole Landcare team for continuing to include our Scouts in these fantastic community projects. We love getting out there, learning new skills and making a difference together. 🌱💚

We’re already looking forward to the BioBlitz in November! 🔎🌿🐞
