Remember to do your Census tonight!!

Today is Census Day. The ADF service question is back for the second time.

In 2021 it found 581,000 Australians who had served. But the data also revealed hard truths. An estimated 5,800 veterans experienced homelessness within a year of transition, nearly three times the general rate. Veterans who end up sleeping rough average 6.3 years on the street.

In our justice system, we do not even ask. There is no veteran identification at prison intake. No question, no data, no policy. The first multi-state study was only published this year.

You cannot fix what you refuse to count. Today, tick the box. If someone in your household served, make sure they do too.

Welcome to my official page as Australia’s Repatriation Commissioner.

I’m also a veteran, so this work is personal to me.

This page is about sharing what I’m hearing, what’s changing, what concerns me, and what we’re doing about it.

Veterans deserve information that is timely, practical and easy to understand. They deserve to be heard.

Whether it’s tackling misinformation, explaining a change, or sharing what I am hearing on the ground, my aim is simple: straight answers, honest conversations and a strong connection with the veteran community.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing Veteran community here in the Snowy Monaro region ❤️

Today we celebrated another Christmas in July lunch; bringing together young and old, serving and ex serving, and spreading wintery cheer over a hot lunch and a drink or two... with a side of terrible "Dad" joke/Christmas Jokes from MC Suz 🤣🤦‍♀️🤪

Thanks to Legacy, RSL NSW, and the Cooma Ex-Services Club for helping us bring to fruition another stellar gathering of our tribe, with plans for our next get together already afoot.
