We are releasing a commemorative coin to mark the 25th anniversary of Australian service in Afghanistan (2001–2021) and to honour those who served.

The coin will be available at the national commemorative service, to be held at the Australian War Memorial on 11 October 2026. This service will formally recognise the service and sacrifice of all those who served in the Afghanistan War (2001–2014) and conflicts in Afghanistan (2015 to present), as well as the families of veterans.

For veterans and families who cannot attend the commemorative service in person, coins will also be available following the event. Register for delivery or collect the coin at one of the locations listed on DVA's website.

Applications are open for the 2027 Long Tan Bursary 💡

Children and grandchildren of Vietnam veterans can apply for grants of up to $12,000 over three years to assist with the cost of tertiary education at an Australian university, TAFE college or registered training organisation.

The bursary, named in honour of the Battle of Long Tan, has supported over 1,000 students with their education in a range of fields, including commerce, law, medicine, teaching, aviation and science.

Save the Date!!! Saturday 28th November from 0800...

It's that time of year again - The Annual Big Day out - Road Trip!

Last year we headed south to visit the tiniest Sub Branch in Australia - Delegate RSL sub-Branch! After an amazing morning tea and inspection of the hall, we headed to the Bendoc Hotel run by Husband and Wife ADF Veterans - thoroughly recommend 🤩

This year, we are northbound to the Australian War Memorial to visit the new wing, and revisit original sections and of course, pay our respects. Then, it's on to lunch at the Queanbeyan RSL Bowling Club.

The best part (of course) is the bus trip is on us - FREE!
(Lunch and drinks are on you though 😉😁)

So, don't miss out on this big day out - it's first in, best dressed and Veterans and their families, and Sub branch members in the Cooma-Monaro region are all welcome - so get yourself a seat secured today.
