The NECA ACT branch represents electrical and communications contractors across the ACT from small businesses to multinational conglomerates. Our members work across every facet of the industry including Accredited Service Providers, Date & Communications, Security, Fire, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning, Solar and Smart Wiring. The NECA ACT branch provides advice and support to help our members,

and the wider industry, to operate and manage their businesses more effectively. NECA members have access to phone and email support through NECA Member Services ensuring that you and your business receive specialist and expert advice. The NECA team can assist your business with Legal & IR, WHS, Technical Advice, Government Advocacy, Training & Apprenticeships and Workwear, Corporate Clothing & PPE and ongoing member benefits. With the assistance of NECASafe, Canberra Air Conditioning Services has officially achieved ISO accreditation. The certification certificates were recently presented to Scott, Faith, and the wider CACS team.

This has been a fantastic collaborative effort, with significant work undertaken to develop and strengthen their integrated management systems, operational procedures, and overall compliance framework. The 2026-27 Federal Budget was handed down on 12 May 2026 against a very tough economic backdrop.

For electrical contractors, the news is broadly positive on work pipeline and tax relief, more complicated on energy policy, and requires action on business structure and workforce costs.

Some of the key wins for the sector, and for NECA’s advocacy team, include free access to all mandatory standards referenced in Australian legislation, and the $20,000 instant asset write-off being made permanent.
