Protecting Cash Flow: Legal Update on NECA’s Payment Terms
🗓️Tuesday 16 June, 2026
🕔Time: 1.30pm - 2.15pm
👤Presenter: Somaya Sheikh and Frank Brown

Late payments and cash flow pressure continue to be one of the biggest risks for contractors. Join us for a practical webinar on our updated Payment Terms templates (NSW, WA, QLD, ACT and TAS) and how businesses can use them to better protect cash flow, secure deposits, and improve debt recovery outcomes.

This session is aimed at providing attendees with practical, commercially focused guidance on how to use the updated payment terms. The payment terms webinar will focus on key state differences, residential deposit and insurance requirements, progress payment clauses, Security of Payment interaction, and the practical steps needed to secure your cash flow and ensure compliance.

Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how to issue the payment terms, common mistakes that weaken recovery options, and how the updated clauses can strengthen their position in debt recovery and adjudication.

The 2026-27 Federal Budget was handed down on 12 May 2026 against a very tough economic backdrop.

For electrical contractors, the news is broadly positive on work pipeline and tax relief, more complicated on energy policy, and requires action on business structure and workforce costs.

Some of the key wins for the sector, and for NECA’s advocacy team, include free access to all mandatory standards referenced in Australian legislation, and the $20,000 instant asset write-off being made permanent.

For the first time, NECA travelled to Mount Isa to host a NECA Industry Update Event, and it was a great success. The intimate setting created fantastic engagement across the evening, with attendees actively participating in discussions and networking opportunities.

Our safety session was a standout, generating significant interest and valuable conversations amongst contractors and industry representatives alike. The Electrical Safety Office (ESO) presentation generated strong engagement and positive feedback from attendees across the local industry.

A big thank you to Haymans Mount Isa for their support in making the event possible, and a special thank you to The Trade Shade for providing the lucky door prize and to our lucky winner Corey Stevens from VIP Voltage Pty Ltd.

If you missed out, join us at Mackay (19th May), Rockhampton (20th May), or Gladstone (21st May).
