Love never dies, it just comes back hungry!

Our June screening of Brian Yuzna's practical gore-fest is only one week away!

Starring Melinda Clarke and J. Trevor Edmond, ROtLD3 is one part Romeo and Juliet and one part military grade nonsense. Think doomed romance with ah... well, with zombies mixed in with some early 90s gooodness! It's bona fide cult hit and a genuine favourite of ours.

So, if that sounds like your thing, then head on down to Champagne Video, 318 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North on Wednesday 24th of June from 5pm onwards, with a film start time of 7:30pm. Memberships will be available on the night, $20 for three screenings or $60 for 12, with cash being the preferred method of payment. Seating is limited, so please get on down early to secure your spot.

We hope to see you there, exposure to Trioxin 245 is not required, but enthusiasm and good vibes are very much encouraged!

Like many of you, we're absolutely heartbroken over the loss of the wonderful Anthony Stewart Head 💔 The MHFS community is filled with many wonderful librarians / archivists and Giles was the best of all. A surrogate father figure to some and to others, between him and Ripper (and Frank 'N Furter lbh), maybe the only perfect man out there. Think we might have to have another Once More With Feeling sing-along, once we stop crying for 5 minutes that is 😭

In the meantime, lie to me.. "Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true. The bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats. And, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies and... everybody lives happily ever after."

MHFS ventured over the bridge last night to the opening night of at the beautiful . A highlight was The Fling stop-motion horror directed by Jemma Cotter, paying homage to John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982). Go see this short, it’s a unique q***r story using pixilation, a stop-motion technique using live actors moving frame by frame to create an animation. This technique was remniscent of Jan Švankmajer’s Jídlo/Food (1992), which Bob showed at Melbourne Horror a few years ago 🖤

We're verrrrry excited to announce that our next screening will be Return of the Living Dead 3 on Wednesday June 24 at Champagne Video, 7:30pm!

We were originally meant to show this one in March 2020 as part of a series on iconic women performances in horror but then the world shut down and it got put on the backburner... now, Jack's bringing it back (from the dead)!!

Ok, this looks incredible - the upcoming Korean zombie film, COLONY, from the director of Train to Busan, Yeon Sang-ho! It's going to hit cinemas here in Aus on June 11, and we have double passes to giveaway to 3 lucky members.
