90% to Healthscope, 10% to you. Nothing more to say.

Healthscope’s salary packaging proposal is unprecedented. They say it’s about “benefits” for workers, but here’s the truth:

❌ 90% to Healthscope. 10% to you: This is the worst split ever proposed in the health sector.

❌ Your entitlements shouldn’t bail out a private company: Healthscope’s $1.6B debt is not your responsibility.

❌ Job security is not guaranteed: Don’t be fooled by scare tactics. Even if this passes, jobs are not guaranteed.

❌ Healthscope’s figures are based on best-case scenarios: Real benefits depend on your income, HECS debt, family payments, and more. Seek independent financial advice to determine what your benefit will look like.

Vote NO to protect your entitlements and stop private companies from using worker benefits to bail themselves out.

Healthscope is restructuring – and it could cost you.

They’re setting up a new not-for-profit called PurposeCo, which should mean access to salary packaging benefits for workers.

But instead of passing those benefits on, Healthscope wants to keep 90% for itself – leaving just 10% for employees.

That’s not fair, and it’s not what this benefit was meant for.

They need your vote to make it happen.

UNION WINS IN UNDERPAYMENT COURT BATTLE

Last year, we initiated legal proceedings against Grampians Health, on the basis that a Psychologist and VPA member had been significantly underpaid under our public sector EBA.

Despite our best efforts to reach a sensible resolution locally, the employer “lawyered up” and left us no choice but to fight the case in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Despite our Industrial team going up against a high-powered legal team of multiple solicitors and even a barrister, we came away with a huge victory – the Court ordered Grampians Health to pay our member six years’ worth of backpay, plus interest – more than $80,000 in total.

It is extremely disappointing that a public health service would fight tooth and claw to avoid paying a worker what they are owed (not to mention how much public money they will have wasted on their legal defence). We sincerely hope that our success in this case will serve as a warning for other employers – that we will pursue our members’ entitlements relentlessly, and we’re not afraid to fight and win in court if need be.
