Roles up for election are:
President - Represents the society to students, the university, and other organisations. The President works to develop a cohesive vision for the society, balancing the goals and aspirations of the committee and the wider community.
Vice-President - Supports and fills in for the President as needed, and generally takes on whatever work is required. They are the “all-rounder” of the executive.
Treasurer - Manages the society’s finances, including reimbursements, sponsor payments, and keeping accounts up to date.
Secretary - Organizes meetings, publishes information for members, and maintains the society’s records, including required filings with relevant government agencies.
Industry Director - Leads the industry team. Manages the society's contact with sponsors, ensures obligations are met, and may explore new or different sponsorship opportunities.
Diversity Officer - Advocates for the many and varied groups that make up the CSSA membership, ensuring all voices are represented and actively engaging with members from underrepresented backgrounds.
Postgraduate Officer - Advocates for postgraduate students, runs events tailored to their interests, and keeps an eye on issues affecting them.
International Officer - Advocates for international students, runs events for them, and ensures their concerns are heard.
Communications Officer - Manages the society’s outreach and engagement with members, including newsletters, social media, and other communications channels.
Cybersecurity Officer - Leads the cybersecurity activities of the CSSA, including CTFs and engagement with other communities such as BSides/CSides.
Competitive Programming Officer - Leads the competitive programming activities of the CSSA, including but not limited to hackathons, ICPC, and other events.
Ordinary Committee Members - Contribute actively to the work of the committee. They might take responsibility for a specific project, champion a type of event, or simply lend a hand wherever needed.
At least two positions, with the final number to depend on any relevant motions passed at the AGM.
The CSSA is the product of its whole community, but steering it day-to-day is a committee of people who organise events, work with sponsors, advocate for students, run our technical activities, keep the society operating, and generally make things happen.
You don’t need to have done a particular type of CSSA work before to nominate. Committee members are also welcome to contribute across all areas of the society, not just their own role.
