FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE TONIGHT! 8PM FM92.7 |90.3| DAB+ | artsound.fm

Casey Golden (keys) leads his trio of Bill Williams (bass) and Ed Rodrigues (drums) in a two set concert that ArtSound FM captured in 2013. This concert is a reminder of the golden days when regular jazz afficionados gathered on a regular basis to experience leading-edge jazz at its best as part of the Canberra Grammar Jazz Series.
“This is intense and skilled but disciplined... stunningly rich and intellectually satisfying.” (Eric Pozza, canberrajazz.net).

is a forward-thinking musician based in Sydney. He is the grandson of internationally renowned jazz trumpeter Bob Barnard. Described as ‘a brilliant improviser with a highly developed melodic sensibility’ (The Australian) and ‘a pianist of sheer class’ (Jazzwise), he’s been involved in a wide range of original music ranging from jazz/improvised projects to electronic, pop and film music. From 2010-2016 Casey led a trio featuring bassist Bill Williams and drummer Ed Rodrigues, performing widely and ‘crafting a tightly spun dynamic where the lines between head and improvisation are constantly blurred’ (All About Jazz). Tonight you’ll relive their 2013 concert which features music from their first album “Outliers”.

Produced and presented by Chris Deacon OAM for ArtSound FM.

Day 17 of the ArtSound Radiothon

Radio theatre is where storytelling becomes imagination.

Behind the scenes, it’s actors at microphones, live sound effects, music, and a live audience bringing the whole performance to life. No screens. No visuals. Just voices, footsteps, doors slamming, laughter, and the listener’s imagination doing the rest.

That’s what makes radio theatre so special. It’s not just a performance — it’s a shared creative experience that keeps an important tradition alive while giving audiences something wonderfully unique and local.

If you love original storytelling and want to help keep radio theatre on air, please support ArtSound today.

Day 16 of the ArtSound Radiothon

At ArtSound, we don’t just broadcast radio — we help create the next generation of voices.

Through Radio Rookies, school students get the chance to learn radio and podcasting skills, build confidence, and discover how powerful their own voices can be. For many young people, this is the moment they realise they have something worth saying — and a place to say it.

That only happens because listeners choose to support community radio. Without donations, programs like this simply can’t continue.

If you believe young people deserve opportunities to learn, grow, and be heard, please donate today and help keep this work alive.

Day 15 of the ArtSound Radiothon

We’re halfway through the ArtSound Radiothon, and I want to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has already donated, shared, volunteered, and encouraged us along the way. Your support has carried ArtSound this far, and it means more than we can say.

But we’re not at the finish yet. There is still a long way to go, and every donation from here helps carry us through to the end.

Behind every song, every interview, and every voice on air, there are people working quietly behind the scenes. That work matters because this station matters — to the musicians, the presenters, and the listeners who rely on it.

If ArtSound has ever meant something to you, please donate today. Every contribution helps keep local music, local voices, and community radio alive.
