Join us for a special hands-on culinary experience celebrating the rich flavours and traditions of the Philippines! In collaboration with the Embassy of the Philippines, this interactive workshop is presented in celebration of Filipino Food Month and invites participants to learn how to prepare two beloved Filipino classics: adobo and lumpia. Attendees will learn the history and cultural significance of these iconic dishes.

From the savoury, slow-cooked richness of adobo to the crisp, delicious bite of freshly rolled lumpia, participants will enjoy creating and tasting their own dishes throughout the session. This workshop offers a warm and engaging opportunity to connect through food, culture, and community. All ingredients and equipment will be provided. Come ready to cook, learn, and enjoy a memorable taste of the Philippines!

The Philippine Embassy in Canberra proudly joins the Filipino nation in celebrating Filipino Food Month (Buwan ng Kalutong Filipino) this April 2026, under the theme โ€œConnected by Taste: The Filipino Food in the Flavors of ASEAN.โ€

Now in its eighth year, Filipino Food Month was established through Proclamation No. 469 s. 2018, which designates the month of April to celebrate the countryโ€™s rich culinary traditions and promote Filipino cuisine as a vital expression of national culture. The annual observance is spearheaded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Tourism (DOT), and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement (PCHM).

27 March 2026, CANBERRA - Philippine Ambassador Antonio Morales met with the Australian National University Filipino Association (ANU Filipino Association - ANUFA) Executive Committee Members led by Abigayle Balanag-Dayusan to discuss initiatives supporting the welfare and well-being of Filipino students in Canberra, as well as opportunities to strengthen collaboration in promoting Filipino culture and heritage in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Philippines-Australia relations this year.

Ambassador Morales underscored the commitment of the Philippine Embassy and Consulates in Australia to ensure that Filipino international students in Australia are supported including through mental health and consular support. He also reaffirmed the Embassyโ€™s support for student-led initiatives that celebrate Filipino culture and cross-cultural understanding.

The ANU Filipino Association shared its ongoing efforts to foster vibrant community engagement among Filipino students through various social and cultural initiatives.

The meeting explored avenues for collaboration on future activities, including cultural showcases and community outreach programs aimed at promoting Filipino identity and heritage within the broader university environment.

There are more than 34,000 Filipino international students in Australia, making the Philippines among the top five source countries of international students in Australia. - END

In this lecture, Neri Colmenares will examine one of the most significant international legal developments concerning the Philippines: the International Criminal Court (ICC) case against Rodrigo Duterte, and its broader implications for international justice, accountability, and global governance.

Drawing on expert insight, the lecture will unpack key legal, political, and normative questions surrounding the case, and what it means for the future of international criminal law.
