Before 2023 comes to an end, we would like to extend a big fa’afetai tele lava for everyone’s support 🧡

Firstly to Reverend Saifoloi Saifoloi for our opening service.

To our esteemed judges for accepting the request and carrying out their duties so diligently.

To our youth members that accepted the call-out, committed to practices; showed up & showed out.

In the true spirit of ‘island time’, we are a bit delayed in our follow-up posts from our Awards night, but are finally getting around to it 🤩

The Fono would like to acknowledge and congratulate all of our nominees, and especially the winners of our awards this year.

To quote our President, Theresa Maiava, “You are the architects of change, the visionaries of progress, and the ambassadors of hope.”

‘O oe ma lou fa’asinomaga’ 🪴

The theme for this years awards night is ‘O Oe ma lou Fa’asinomaga’. Translated it becomes ‘You and Your Identity’. This years theme was chosen by one of our very own youth members 🤩. When asked about why and how he came to the conclusion of picking this theme, this is what he had to say:

“Ua ou manatu i lea autu, ona e talafeagai ma o tatou Tupulaga talavou i nei ona po. Fai mai se tasi o tusitala, “Ole fanua ma lona tapuafanua, ole tagata ma lona faasinomaga. A lē iloa ele tagata lona tupuaga, e faaleiloga lana folauga, ua lē ese ma le vaa e folau ile vasa e leai se tapasa.” I quote, “A person without identity is like a voyager without a compass.” Knowing who you are and where you come from contributes your navigation through life; pride, belonging, self-worth. The understanding of sacrifices made by ancestors in search of a better future, translating to the inspiration and motivation for our youth to excel and work to become the best versions of themselves.”

To fostering environments rich in culture, knowledge & understanding so that our future generations will know who they are, where they come from and where they are going 🌱💚
