Do you speak a language other than English? Or know someone who does?

Australia is one of the most linguistically diverse countries on earth, yet existing data may underestimate the true extent of our multilingual society.

While sources such as the Census provide valuable insights, they don’t always capture the full range of languages spoken in Australian homes and communities.

To help address this gap, The Australian National University is launching The Languages in Australia Survey, aiming to produce the most comprehensive picture yet of Australia’s linguistic diversity.

The findings will provide a stronger evidence base for future language policy, planning and research.
