Ancient Arts Fellowship Medieval and Dark Age Reenactment in Canberra Our members fight safely using period techniques and reproduction armour and weapons.

The Ancient Arts Fellowship is a Dark Ages re-enactment group based in Canberra which provides historical and educational displays. The Fellowship has been providing quality entertainment and education to Canberra since the club's founding way back in 1986. We create costume, jewellery, armour and accessories according to documented period styles. We shoot traditional bows and feast on food that W

illiam the Conquerer would have eaten. The club focuses on Northern Europe and Britain in the 8th - 10th century, starting with the first Viking raids around AD790, and ending with the Norman invasion and the Battle of Hastings in AD1066. However, our members also like to branch out into other locations and other periods.

Beorg-wic - not dead, just sleeping

The Ancient Arts Fellowship would like to announce that our annual period camping event Beorg-wic will not be happening in 2026.

This is because many of our members and key organisers will be overseas in October to attend the annual battle of Hastings re-enactment in the UK.

We will be bringing Beorg-wic back in 2027 on the October long weekend as normal, at Cuppacumbalong. We hope to see you there.

The Ancient Arts Fellowship would like to thank Blacktown City council and all the organisers and volunteers who helped make this year's Blacktown City Medieval Fayre a huge success.

We would especially like to thank all the reenactors who fought alongside us, shared the medieval village with us, helped us set up and pack down, and sat and shared stories with us around the fire at night - Danelaw, Vanguard - Historical Reenactment Guild, Einherjar, Medieval Archery Society, Sea Wolves, Hammers of Thegn, and others.

And of course we couldn't have done it without you - the ticket-buying public, who turned out in costume and brought your energy, your questions, and your cheers.

If you are a regular attendee of the Blacktown Fayre and would like to see it from the other side of the curtain, or if you'd like how to make your own medieval clothes and jewellery, weapons and armour, how to camp and live and fight like a Viking, please get in touch with your local medieval reenactment club. There are clubs all over NSW and the ACT and we are all looking for new people who want to get involved in this amazing hobby.
