With the shops buzzing again, GRAG sends a huge thank you for the amazing support and effort over the past 20 years. Together, as a community, we’ve protested and saved open urban areas, the school and now the shops. We’ve shown the wider Canberra community what can be achieved through teamwork, persistence, and a never-give-up spirit.

It’s wonderful to have the heart of our community thriving once more and to bump into familiar faces at the shops or over a coffee. Can’t wait to see the gym doors open next!

This page will no longer be actively monitored or updated and GRAG has done its part in keeping us connected. Please follow these pages and keep supporting our community and local businesses.

As they say…. It takes a village….thank you for being an awesome community

Just a quick update on Giralang Shops. Several people have written to me about a variation notice they received in the mail. I’ve spoken with the developer to clarify what the variation is and why it’s happening.

The variation is to add the use of “indoor recreation facility” to the lease. Under the zoning for the site the use is permissible however not all uses are listed on a lease. If a permissible use is not listed on a lease a proponent can apply to have it added which is what is happening here.

The developer has indicated there is a Pilates studio interested in opening at the shops. However any finalisation of a lease is subject to the variation to the lease being approved.

The developer also confirmed the bakery/cake shop and the supermarket are confirmed. The developer is looking to fill the other tenancies asap.

SECRET’S OUT! Sugar Plum Fairy Cakes 2.0 is coming to Giralang shops! More space for us to create delicious goodies (sweet AND savoury) and keep serving that amazing coffee ✌🏻 We’ll still be slinging cupcakes, jaffles and coffees from our Hall shopfront but we are SO EXCITED to start our next journey in the next few months!
