The Cairns Surf Life Saving Club offers activities for junior members aged between 5 and 13 (known universally as “Nippers”), and for senior members through to a thriving “Masters” (over 30) contingent. Competitively, the Cairns SLSC has been riding a wave of success in the last few years, and are currently the 2016 Branch and North Australian Champion club. We encourage membership across the ages and offer a strong junior and senior program which appeals to all comers, to ensure that the Lifesaving presence of the Cairns Club continues strongly into the future. 🧡🖤 NORTH AUSSIES, HERE WE COME! 🖤🧡

The countdown is on! Our Cairns SLSC crew are on their way to Mackay for three big days of competition at the North Australian Championships! 🌊🏆

There’s something pretty special about North Aussies for our club. It’s more than just a competition — it’s a tradition filled with incredible stories, lifelong friendships, proud moments and memories made over many, many years.

And when it comes to history, our Masters have a record worth celebrating! 🏆 An incredible 20 consecutive years of winning, from 2002 to 2021! 🤯 What an achievement! Even better, so many of those legends are still out there competing, proving that passion for surf lifesaving doesn’t come with an expiry date! 💪🧡🖤

🧡🖤 HUGE NEWS FOR CAIRNS SLSC! 🖤🧡

We were thrilled to welcome Tim Mander MP, Queensland Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games to Cairns SLSC this morning to announce some fantastic news…

🎉 CAIRNS SLSC HAS BEEN AWARDED $499,999! 🎉

Through the Queensland Government’s Games On! Grassroots Infrastructure Program, this funding will go towards the construction of a new training room and improved storage facilities at our club! This is a huge step forward for our club and the future of surf life saving in our region.

These new facilities will help us better support our volunteers, develop athletes and continue our vital work keeping locals and visitors safe. They will also benefit the many community groups who use our facilities, creating more opportunities for people to get active, learn new skills and be part of our community.

It’s an exciting investment in our club and a lasting legacy for Far North Queensland as we look towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 🏊‍♀️🏄‍♂️

It was lovely to welcome Tim alongside Bree James MP, Member for Barron River; Alexi Sachlikidis; Tony Hewitt from Sport and Racing; NQ SLSQ Operations Manager Rachael; and Community Coordinator Dylan Kelly.

We were also delighted to have so many Cairns SLSC members there to share the excitement, including our President Tony Hannan and Club Patron Ellis Richardson and his wife, Denise.

A massive thank you to the Queensland Government for supporting our project and investing in grassroots sport and community facilities. We look forward to seeing this project come to life!
