🏖️ NIPPERS IS ON THIS WEEKEND! 🏖️

Just a reminder to all our Nippers families that we'll be back on the beach this Sunday, 21 June!

🕣 Office Open: 8:30am
✅ Sign On (Beach): From 9:00am
🏃 Session Starts: 9:30am sharp

🌭 BBQ Helpers Needed! 🌭

Our BBQ will be firing up, but we need a few extra hands to help out. If you can spare 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes or more, we'd love your support.

No experience necessary—just turn up with:
👟 Closed-in shoes
🧢 A hat
😊 A willingness to help

When you arrive, please ask for Natasha and she'll point you in the right direction.

Many hands make light work, and every bit of help allows our Nippers program to continue running smoothly for the kids.

🚨 Gnomey's Great Adventure #1 🚨

Our Cairns SLSC lifesaving gnome has officially begun his travels!

This weekend, Lacey & Heath Taylor took Gnomey Mahoney on his first adventure to Glen Gordon Station near Innot Hot Springs.

Not content with just beach patrols, Gnomey swapped the sand for the saddle and was spotted riding a horse through the outback! 🐴🤠

A huge thank you to Lacey and Heath for showing our little lifesaver around. We can't wait to see where his next adventure takes him.

On behalf of Club Captain James, a huge thank you to every volunteer who contributed to the success of the Green Island Swim on 11 June and Ironman Cairns on 14 June.

From the early morning setup crews to those who participated in the Green Island Swim, Ironman, or both, and those managing water safety, logistics, communications, and the final pack down at the end of long days, every role mattered, and every volunteer played a part in delivering safe, enjoyable, and memorable events for all involved.

As the largest club in the Northern Branch, it was fantastic to see such strong representation from Cairns SLSC, with almost 50 volunteers giving their time and energy throughout the week. We are also incredibly grateful to our Northern and Southern Branch brothers and sisters who joined us and worked alongside our members to support both events.

A special thank you to Hannah Bissett for stepping up as Water Safety Coordinator and helping ensure the events ran smoothly and safely. Your leadership, organisation, and willingness to take on this important role were greatly appreciated.

There were countless moving parts behind the scenes, and none of it would have been possible without the dedication, commitment, and teamwork of our volunteers. Many gave up their sleep-ins, got up before dawn, and put their bodies on the line to help ensure the safety of competitors and participants while creating a positive experience for everyone involved.

Thank you for embodying the spirit of Surf Life Saving and for once again demonstrating the strength of our volunteer community. We couldn't do it without you.

The Clams Charity Swim Relay is set for July 4th, and it's shaping up to be a great afternoon!

Hosted in support of the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, this fantastic event helps raise funds that directly benefit our local community and healthcare services across the region.

The Clams Charity Swim Relay has long been supported by the Cairns SLSC family, with many of our members taking part each year as swimmers, supporters, and volunteers. We'd love to see that support continue in 2026.

Let's get behind this great local event, support a worthy cause, and enjoy a fun afternoon on the water.
