Ellis Beach Surf Lifesaving Club Location: Ellis Beach Surf Life Saving Club is located 25km north of the Cairns CBD. Please be at the beach between 8.30 and 8.45 ready for a 9 am start.

The Ellis Beach Surf Lifesaving Club offers the opportunity to participate in surf sport and learn valuable lifesaving skills - we cater for all ages from 5 to 105 and are proud to be a family club! Background: The club was established 60 years ago and is a family orientated environment with all members of the family encouraged to participate in all aspects of Surf Lifesaving. Membership: The Club

welcomes new members of the public and caters for ages from 5 to 105 years. Opportunities: there are not only opportunities to participate in surf sports and fitness but also to learn life-saving skills. Training courses for Bronze Medallion, First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation techniques are available to members. Our club makes an invaluable community service contribution with qualified members participating in voluntary beach patrols at Ellis Beach and assisting with water safety at sporting events throughout the region including IRONMAN Asia-Pacific. There is the opportunity to progress to paid employment as a lifeguard at Cairns Beaches or the Lagoon. Nipper Training is held Sunday mornings from 8.45 am for 2-3 hours for Juniors aged 5 to 13, with a focus on participation, learning new skills and fun. Cadets, Seniors and Masters train on Saturdays. The North Queensland Surf Sports Season runs from May to October every year, but the club operates 12 months of the year conducting training courses and the clubhouse is available for use by members all year round.

🌊 JUNIOR ACTIVITIES WORKSHOP – NORTH QUEENSLAND 🌊
Calling all Age Managers, Coaches, Parents, Nipper Safety Assistants and anyone involved in Junior Activities!
Join us for an exciting Junior Activities (Nippers) Workshop designed to help strengthen and support our junior programs across North Queensland.
📍 Saturday 6 June – Ellis Beach
📍 Sunday 7 June – Mission Beach
⏰ 8:00am – 12:00pm
The workshop will include:
✅ Practical & theory sessions
✅ Essential JA safety requirements
✅ Strategies for running successful Nipper programs
✅ Problem-solving and knowledge sharing
✅ Optional Shallow Water Rescue component at the beginning of each day
We’re excited to have Kim Free from Southport leading the sessions, sharing her extensive experience, insights and practical pathways for parents and volunteers wanting to get more involved in Surf Lifesaving.
