Cairns City Kennel Club The Cairns City Kennel Club is the largest dog sports and conformation all breeds dog club in Queensland.

Our dog obedience training classes are run by a dedicated team of club members who have extensive experience in dog training and actively participate in local, State and National events. Gain insights and expert level advice on training, behaviour, breeds and general canine care and welfare. At the core of our dog obedience training classes is the focus on positive reinforcement training techniques. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, owners learn how to use praise and/or treats to reward your dog when they demonstrate a desired behaviour. Over time the dog is more likely to repeat the behaviour. Dog obedience training classes run from February to November. 🕷️ Paralysis ticks are back! 🕷️

As the weather warms up, those pesky little critters are starting to make another surge. 😬

Now is the time to be extra vigilant with your furry family members. 🐶🐱

🔎 Do a daily tick check — especially around the ears, face, neck, between the toes and under the collar.

🕷️ Prevention is important, but no tick prevention is 100% foolproof, so regular checks are still a must.

Stay safe, keep checking, and give those furry friends an extra pat while you're at it. 💙💛

🐾 What a weekend of dog sports across North Queensland! 🐾

Someone forgot to tell the Cairns Crew it was supposed to be a long weekend… because apparently we had dogs to sport! 😂🐶

🎩 Friday night saw the Tricks, Obedience & Rally crew strutting their stuff, with Meade Os , Jessica Gillies and Tricia keeping everyone on their toes in the judging ring.

⚡ Saturday night was time to let the dogs run wild(ish!) with Agility & Jumpers, judged by our very own Karen Winzar and Tricia Williams.

👃 Meanwhile, our Scentwork Crew packed their sniffers and headed south to Townsville for a weekend of serious sniffing. Because apparently one dog sports wasn't enough for some of our members 😜

🏆 And the Show Crew weren't going to miss out either, spending their weekend in Proserpine making the most of the show season.

Basically, if there was a dog sport happening somewhere in North Queensland this weekend… there was a pretty good chance a Cairns Crew member was there! 😂🐾

A massive THANK YOU to all the judges, officials, stewards and volunteers who gave up their time and helped make all these events happen. 👏💙💛

And of course, well done to all our competitors and their four-legged sidekicks. Whether you were sniffing, jumping, dancing, running, trotting or showing off in the ring — you all make us proud! 🐕❤️

Now… everyone is heading home, unpack and give the dogs a well-earned nap. 😴🐶

Safe travels home everyone! 💙💛

Tell us how you spent this long weekend with your furry friend🐾

🦖 Spike the Distraction Dino 🦖

Spike did a superb job as tonight’s distraction at our somewhat wet and very windy Containers Scentwork Trial! 🌧️💨🐾

Our spectators were kept on the edge of their seats watching the different teams take on the challenge — and Spike was certainly doing his best to keep everyone guessing! 😂

A huge thank you to Gab for judging and to our wonderful steward for keeping everything running smoothly tonight. 👏💙💛

Well done to all our competitors — another great night of Scentwork with the Cairns Crew! 🐾
