🏊‍♂️Ironman 70.3 Green Island Swim🏊

Always a great event swimming over the coral and reef fish. The weather brought an added level of complexity with a little wind and a sweep in the current. The competitors took this in their stride and met the challenge. 🪸

A special mention to all the Ironman crew, Green Island staff and Surf Lifesaving volunteer members for making a great day and a memorable event. 🏝

Thank you to all the North Queensland lifesavers for cheering the competitors on and keeping everyone safe. 🌊

Looking forward to the main event this Sunday. See you all there. 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️

🔥 Junior Activities Workshop - North Queensland🎉
Thank you to everyone who joined us over the weekend at Ellis Beach and Mission Beach! 💪
We had fantastic turnout, awesome energy, and some seriously valuable learning across both days. Participants powered through practical + theory sessions, nailed essential JA safety requirements, picked up fresh strategies for running strong Nipper programs, and many smashed the Shallow Water Rescue component. 👏
A massive shoutout to Kim Free from Southport for coming up and delivering such engaging, practical sessions packed with experience and insights! 🙌 Your expertise was gold! ⭐
Big thanks to all the Age Managers, Coaches, Parents, Nipper Safety Assistants & volunteers who showed up and brought the passion you’re the reason our North Queensland juniors are thriving! ❤️

Recognition at the 2026 Queensland Reconciliation Awards, a humbling experience. The 'Fastest on Sand' initiative has been awarded Highly Commended in the Community category.

Surf Life Saving Queensland, our Coast, Culture and Community Campaign is proud to live this commitment in action.

Launching in 2024 across North Queensland, North Barrier and Wide Bay Capricorn regions, Fastest on Sand has engaged communities through beach sprints, flags, relays and genuine community connection, the program is creating culturally safe spaces, building stronger relationships between Surf Life Saving and First Nations communities

Congratulations to the Regional Team for their dedication to reconciliation.
And we would like to thank all the Surf Life Saving Queensland members in Surf Sport and Membership. We could not have run Fastest on Sand without you. We look forward to the opportunity to continue this initiative.

🌊 This week is National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June)🌊
A powerful time to reflect on our shared histories, celebrate First Nations cultures and achievements, and consider how we can each contribute to meaningful reconciliation.
This year’s theme, All In, is a call for every Australian to commit to reconciliation every single day. At Surf Life Saving Queensland, our Coast, Culture and Community Campaign is proud to live this commitment in action.
We’re also incredibly honoured to share that our Fastest on Sand initiative has been awarded Highly Commended in the Community category at the 2026 Queensland Reconciliation Awards, held last week in Brisbane.
Since launching in 2024 across North Queensland, North Barrier and Wide Bay Capricorn regions, Fastest on Sand has engaged more than 360 participants — with almost 50% identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
Through beach sprints, flags, relays and genuine community connection, the program is creating culturally safe spaces, building stronger relationships between Surf Life Saving and First Nations communities, and opening real pathways into surf sport, awards and membership.
A huge congratulations to the regional team for their dedication to reconciliation.
This is what All In looks like. 💛🤍🖤

🌊 Stronger together: SLSQ & Clontarf Foundation making real impact!
We’ve been proud to partner with the Clontarf Foundation to deliver meaningful training and employment pathways for young people through Surf Life Saving Queensland.
Through our collaboration, we’ve run programs focused on water safety, first aid, and CPR, while showcasing the many opportunities available in lifesaving and coastal skills development.
Recently, we joined Clontarf’s employment forum and showcased the valuable skills and rewarding careers available in SLSQ.
This is what community partnership looks like — creating opportunities, building confidence, and keeping our beaches and communities safer.
Big thanks to the Clontarf Foundation for the collaboration 💛
