The FNQLA is an organization made up of local practitioners, barristers, judiciary and students, and currently has a membership of approximately 130. The aim of the FNQLA is to provide a valuable social and professional forum so that local practitioners, students and the judiciary can interact on issues affecting the industry locally and across the state. The Association achieves these objective t
hrough running regular events relevant to practitioners in the region and by regularly disseminating relevant information to our members. Members of the FNQLA enjoy exclusive invitations to FNQLA events throughout the year which are attended by many members of our profession, students, the judiciary and distinguished guests, all at a subsidised rate. With the eagerness and enthusiasm of the Committee in recent times the FNQLA has been able to organise and/or assist financially with many events including:

- Stanley Jones QC Cup
- Annual Court of Appeal networking event
- International Women's Day Breakfast event
- Annual Chief Justice visit networking event
- QLS Symposium
- North Queensland Law Association Conference
- Annual CPD Event
- Annual Christmas Luncheon at Tamarind; and
- Support of JCU functions including career’s fair, mooting and various student competitions. The FNQLA brings together fellow professionals and helps us maintain a finger on the pulse when it comes to issues affecting our industry on a local, State and national level, and has the resources to ensure that our Far Northern voices are heard. As well as representing its membership, the FNQLA strives to give back to the local community through regular donations and fundraising.
