Good news for fossickers!

The Bar-Barrum General Permission Area is open for fossicking, giving visitors the chance to get out and explore an area known for topaz, garnet and other interesting rock and mineral specimens.

The area is located near Mount Garnet on the Atherton Tablelands and is named for the Bar-Barrum Aboriginal people. The Bar-Barrum Aboriginal Corporation welcome fossickers to share their country and the benefits fossicking visitors can bring to the local community.

With the new fossicking sign now in place, it’s a great time to start planning your next fossicking adventure.

If fossicking is your thing, Bar-Barrum is one to add to the list.
