Well, it has been quite a marathon month for Caboolture Road Runners. Geoff running the Hobart Marathon, Matt running the Sydney Half Marathon, Leah doing her very first marathon in Adelaide, and Rob and Charmaine marathoning in London. Congratulations to you all and a special mention for Leah's amazing first time finish of 3.51hrs.
We also held a club weekend event, combined with the May Handicap event, at Blackbutt Showgrounds. The intermittent showers kept things interesting, however the sun came out just at the rights times.
We started the weekend running the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail parkrun where on this morning, the visitors outnumbered the locals. A very friendly parkrun with great scenery to run through and enjoy. The run director pulled out their 250th sash so we could celebrate Jed's 250th parkrun in style.
Saturday afternoon Jason, Kerry and co. hosted our very own mini Olympics complete with opening and closing ceremonies. The events were not quite the same as the real deal, however the competitive energy was real! Gold medal taken out by Jason, Silver by Kaye and Bronze by Cameron.
Following the Olympics, we held our Beer Mile, Champagne Mile and Donut Mile races. One mile to run and four beverages or donuts to consume along the way. The biggest surprise was how challenging the donuts were. But it wasn't meant to be easy right? The Beer Mile winner was Phil, Champagne Mile was Sara and Donut Mile was Cameron. Prizes for the Olympics and Mile races were donated by Travis from Run The World with vouchers to spend in his online shop.
Saturday night we had a club BBQ dinner followed by a Trivia night hosted by Kelly. Along with the trivia, we were given a number of physical challenges.
And of course, we need to mention running into one of our club's life members camping at the Showgrounds, Geoff Williams.

2026 Handicap Series, Event 2. A great morning spent running around aimlessly with like minded people. Okay, well not aimlessly, we did have a route to follow and a number not to mention a few personal goals being chased.
Hosted by Kaye and photos courtesy of Jed and held at Bluebell Street Park. A first time in this park for quite a few clubbies with comments 'we had no idea this park was here'. If you run or ride the Wamuran/Caboolture Rail Trail, you could easily run past and not realise so keep a look out!! Great little pit stop if you need amenities, a drink of water or to pat a dog. β˜ΊοΈπŸ•

What a great start to our 2026 Handicap Series. Lots of club members on the start line, with high hopes and aspirations to see what the year brings. Good luck to everyone and thank you to Kerry for hosting and Jason and Tony for your assistance on the day.
Also a special mention this weekend to Brian and Alistair who took on the Mooloolaba Triathalon. Challenging conditions on the day which always gives you great memories. Congratulations guys.

Hi everyone, We have now created the Blackbutt Handicap weekend event in Revsports for you to register. Individual races will be listed later for your registrations, however we wanted to lock in this weekend so everyone knew dates well ahead of time to be able to book accommodation if needed.
Margot has kindly booked out a good section just for Caboolture Road Runners at the Blackbutt Showgrounds. If you would like to pitch a tent or caravan, give the showgrounds a call to book in and make sure you mention Caboolture Road Runners.
Other accommodation options include booking a room in the local pub. Situated across the road from the show grounds so very handy to walk across for the races and BBQ. Or you may want to look at local B&B's etc.
Just want to come for the day? No problem, we will be posting race times as soon as possible and don't forget the local Parkrun on Saturday morning.

A little award presentation catch up from our club end of year celebration 2025. Each year the coaches nominate three club members to receive the coach’s award. This award is to recognise commitment, consistency, and taking on personal challenges. Not about being the best but showing a real desire to do their best.
All last year’s recipients were unable to attend our presentation night so it was great to catch up with them all early this year to present their award to them. Congratulations Alistair, Victoria and Alberto.

We would like to announce the vacancy of the Volunteer Co-ordinator position and take this opportunity to sincerely thank Misty for all her hard work and enthusiasm she has brought to this role. Misty is taking on additional roles and work load on a personal basis and as such is regretfully stepping down.

We are looking for Expression of Interest for the Volunteer Co-ordinator position as well as Safety Officer position. Please send us a message or email if you are interested in either of these positions or would like more information about what is involved.

Don't worry if you do not have experience as you will be given all the training and information you require as well as the full support of the committee during your time in either of these roles. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
