We organize a variety of fundraising events, including surf competitions, speaking events and charity auctions, as well as accepting direct donations.

Surf For Kids is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting children and their families
in the Sunshine Coast region (and surrounds) who are facing financial hardship due to
disabilities and mental health challenges. Our mission is to raise funds that provide critical
financial assistance to children and their families when government funding or assistance is
unavailable or has been exhausted, and the families are unable to meet the necessary financial demands themselves. Our fundraising efforts are driven by the generous contributions of donors, volunteers, and
community partners who share our belief in positively impacting the lives of children and their families. We also collaborate with local businesses, schools, and organisations to raise awareness and gather support for our cause. The committee of Surf For Kids is made up of previous members of The Board Meeting Surf Charity, which closed in late 2024 after 21 years serving the community. Every single dollar raised in our events goes to the local families we support. All operating and administration costs are covered by our wonderful committee and sponsors. This proves without a doubt that surfers have big hearts when it comes to helping out those in the community. Our Ambassadors

Boards waxed? Costumes sorted? Crew locked in? 🏄‍♀️🌺

This Saturday we're taking over Kawana Beach for the Surf for Kids Charity Surf Comp! It's all about having fun in the water while raising money for disabled kids and their families right here on the Sunshine Coast.

Come down and cheer on the teams, check out the costumes and soak up the vibes. Stick around after the comp for our charity auction and raffles, with some great prizes up for grabs.

Everyone is welcome, so bring the whole family 💙

A beautiful thank-you message from another beneficiary family:

Saying 'Thank You' just isn’t enough, but there are no amount of words to express how grateful we are to Surf for Kids, our friends and family for helping us get the car we needed for Alister. Watching Alister be able to get in and out of the car with very little help is such an amazing feeling. To have the room for him to move around freely to get himself comfortable and to also have the space for both his wheelchair and walking frame is such a huge relief for us, knowing that we don’t have to worry about not having the right aide that Alister wants to use, takes the worry of a meltdown away from any outing. Never did we think that at our ages we would be back driving a family car, but here we are. We do miss our little zippy Corolla (Hillary), but we are pleased to introduce Kevin, the Kia. When our world turned upside down nearly 4 years ago, we never realised how humbling it would be raising our grandson. Alister teaches us something new every day. Don’t get us wrong, it’s hard, mentally, physically, emotionally and financially. We’ve had many times where we’ve wanted to run away, or we’ve wished we could change things, but we love Alister, and we will continue doing the best we possibly can for him. Every day is a challenge for Alister; he faces challenges that we take for granted, and he does it with such strength and determination. As his grandparents, we will always be right where he needs us to be, facing every new challenge right by his side.

Alister's car was jointly funded by Alfies Bender Events, Surf For Kids, and donations from family and friends. When a community comes together, it's amazing what we can do.

Getting close now with 5 more sleeps till the 2nd Surf For Kids Charity Surf Comp raising funds for kids with disabilities and their families on The Sunshine Coast. We are in the final stages of preparation for a great fun filled day of Surfing In front of the Kawana Surf Club starting on Saturday 24th October at 6.00am.

We would like to thank all of the amazing ladies that have put there hand up to judge this year and we are guaranteed to have lots of fun. Not only do we judge the teams surfing, but there are also other individaul awards to be won as well. Best Wipeout, Best Manouvre, Best Lay-by (grom) and Best Preserved (old bloke). Other team awards are Best Dressed to add to the fun. But the most sought after award is the Pirate Award. To win this prestigious award you will get extra points for your team by bribing the Judges. Anything from coffee, breakfast, drinks, chocolates, ch*****ne and of course $$$$$$. The more bribes and money you give to the judges will put you in the running for the Pirate Trophy.
The last event for the the day is the Expression Session where 1 surfer from each team competes against all the other teams to show off all their best moves and impress the judges. There is a trophy for 1st and 2nd.
You don't have to surf to join in on the fun, come along and watch from 6.00am and at 12.00pm at the Kawana Waters Surf Life Saving Club we will be having raffles, auction and having the presentation of trophies. Event T-shirts will be for sale and if you wear one you will be able to get free b**r supplied by 10 Toes Brewery (while stock lasts).

Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday at the beach and a reminder that Competitor bags can be collected on Friday night from 5.30 pm at the Kawana Waters Surf Life Saving Club. 🏄‍♀️🏄🏄‍♂️

Meet 12-year-old Malakai, one of our recent beneficiaries, who came to us via Connect Kids. He has ASD level 3 and is really struggling with school and social engagement. His family is doing it tough financially, so the charity funded a full disability assessment to identify learning programs to help him going forward.
His Mum, Nina, was very thankful to the charity for their support.
