Surf for Kids

Surf for Kids We organize a variety of fundraising events, including surf competitions, speaking events and charity auctions, as well as accepting direct donations.

Surf For Kids is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting children and their families
in the Sunshine Coast region (and surrounds) who are facing financial hardship due to
disabilities and mental health challenges. Our mission is to raise funds that provide critical
financial assistance to children and their families when government funding or assistance is
unavailable or has been exhaust

ed, and the families are unable to meet the necessary financial demands themselves. Our fundraising efforts are driven by the generous contributions of donors, volunteers, and
community partners who share our belief in positively impacting the lives of children and their families. We also collaborate with local businesses, schools, and organisations to raise awareness and gather support for our cause. The committee of Surf For Kids is made up of previous members of The Board Meeting Surf Charity, which closed in late 2024 after 21 years serving the community. Every single dollar raised in our events goes to the local families we support. All operating and administration costs are covered by our wonderful committee and sponsors. This proves without a doubt that surfers have big hearts when it comes to helping out those in the community. Our Ambassadors

With the financial year sneaking up on us real quick, now is an awesome time to make a donation to Surf For Kids and get a tax deduction for your generosity.

Every dollar donated to Surf For Kids goes directly to supporting Sunshine Coast families facing financial hardship due to disability and mental health challenges. When government funding and other assistance runs out, these families turn to us for help. Your generosity provides critical financial relief, ensuring children can access essential services and support. Even a small contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of local families. Donate today and help us make a positive impact.

We have several families waiting for funding, and this could help us approve them all.

Great local support from the crew at Grill'd Kawana. Surf For Kids won $300 for getting the most caps in the jar during April. Thanks to everyone who popped in, grabbed a burger and showed your support for our amazing charity.
Desi from our committee caught up with the restaurant Manager, Jayce, to receive our cheque and this lovely certificate.
Massive thanks to Perri also for nominating us. Locals really do matter.

Due to a double booking at our presentation venue, we have had to bring our 2026 charity surf comp forward 2 weeks, so it will now be held on October 24th. Change that date in your diary and share it with your mates to get a team together.

Had a great online catch-up with our very first beneficiary family, Marie-Louise and Amy Willis.
Amy is doing well and really enjoys Seahorse Nippers. Apparently, her recent trip to Sea Life was a real highlight for her and her friends.

Unfortunately, Marie-Louise has had progression with her disease and suffered some additional fractures. She needs to have another surgery (a rod put into my femur) as there is lots of disease in her femur and it's at imminent risk of fracture.

That aside, Marie-Louise says they are making the most of every day, and looking forward to her oldest daughter, Ash, coming home for Mother's Day.

It's not an easy life for them, and the financial support we provided really helped.

Have just been told there are still a few tables left for Alfies Bender Events Origin Lunch at the Banana Bender on June 5th.
A great lineup of speakers and entertainment, and seats start at just $200.
Surf For Kids is the beneficiary of the event, and we'll be there to raise funds for Alaia, a very special girl with incredible disabilities.
To book, just go to: https://www.red-ict.com.au/alfies-origin-bender
Massive thanks to our ambassador, Allan Langer, for supporting us and allowing us to make such a positive change in the community.

Meet Odin, our latest beneficiary.
Odin will be 4 in June and has high-level autism. He is non-verbal, has vision issues, and needs assistance in most daily living tasks.

Annette, his grandmother, is his guardian but has her own health issues and another 5 grandchildren in her care.

Odin is super-active and a genuine flight risk, as he has no sense of danger and will run out on the road without thinking.

Annette is elderly and unable to chase him, so she asked if it was possible to have her pergola area fenced in to provide a safe place for him to play.

Surf For Kids jumped in to get the job done and it is now all complete.

Massive thanks to Beau and his crew from Fencepac for the labour, and Adam and the team at Protector Aluminium for the materials.

Once again, a brilliant community effort.

A legacy that unites us all.

The spirit of ANZAC Day is for all Australians and New Zealanders.

More than a commemoration of service and sacrifice, ANZAC Day is a chance to stand united, to reflect on what truly matters.

Each ANZAC Day, we honour not just what was, but what still is: the spirit that shaped us – the spirit that lives with us, and in us, evermore.

Your participation matters. No matter how you commemorate ANZAC Day, it only matters that you do.

Whether you join a Dawn Service, pause at home in quiet reflection, or share stories with family and friends, every action – big or small – honours those who’ve served and shows us that the ANZAC spirit lives here.

To honour what they gave is to appreciate what we have.

Meet 8-year-old Jacob, one of our recent beneficiaries.
Jacob has ASD level 2, PDA, Aphraxia, Anxiety, GDD and myopia.
With his sight diminishing, he is required to wear special glasses with custom lenses for his myopia. Of course, these are not covered by the NDIS, and his single mum, Alicia, simply couldn't afford the $1000 to get them.
Surf For Kids jumped in to cover the glasses, and Jacob is now seeing so much better.

Our directors, Skins & Desi, had a great catch-up with Parko today at the Parko Junior Pro at Ann Street, so he could sign all the memorabilia from our recent Legends Lunch. He is so generous with his time and posed for pics with all our supporters.
Thanks to Bev for taking all the photos.
Couldn't ask for a better ambassador.
