One night. One cardboard box. One powerful reason.

This year, Jayde, Managing Director of Azura Building Group , is taking part in the CEO Sleepout to help raise awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness.

For many, sleeping rough isn’t a choice; it’s the reality they face every night. Families, women, and children across our community are experiencing hardship, uncertainty, and the fear of not knowing where they will sleep next.

By stepping outside her comfort zone, Jayde is helping shine a light on this growing issue and supporting organisations that provide safe accommodation, meals, and pathways to stability.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps provide hope, dignity, and support to those who need it most.

If you’re able to support, please consider donating or sharing this post to help spread awareness.

Together, we can make a difference.

“Strength is not measured by how much you can endure, but by how you rise above and reclaim your power.”

Domestic violence does not define your strength; your decision to seek safety does.

Real strength is choosing dignity over fear.
It’s reaching out for help with domestic violence.
It’s rebuilding, even when it feels overwhelming.

As a community charity, we stand beside survivors and support initiatives that fund domestic violence help and recovery services.

If this resonates with you, know this: you are not alone.

Escaping domestic violence is not only emotionally overwhelming, but it is also legally and financially complex.

One of the biggest reasons people remain in unsafe situations is housing insecurity. Many survivors believe they are legally bound to stay in a rental agreement because they cannot afford break-lease fees or penalties.

In Queensland, that is not always the case.

Under Queensland tenancy legislation, individuals experiencing domestic violence may be eligible to end a tenancy agreement early without financial penalty. This provision exists because safe housing is central to domestic violence help and recovery.

Depending on the situation, this process may involve:

• Providing evidence such as a Domestic Violence Order (DVO)
• Submitting a police protection notice
• Completing required forms through the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA)
• Seeking support from specialist domestic violence services

Domestic violence thrives in confusion and silence, but Awareness creates options.

Many survivors escaping domestic violence leave with only essentials, no stable housing, limited finances, and urgent safety concerns.

Financial abuse occurs in up to 90% of domestic violence relationships. That makes rebuilding incredibly difficult.

Through fundraising events and community partnerships, our charity supports beneficiaries such as the RISE2 Foundation, which provides emergency accommodation and practical support for people experiencing domestic violence on the Sunshine Coast.

Emergency accommodation gives more than shelter.
It gives people time to think, rest, and begin again without fear.

Safe housing is often the turning point between survival and stability. That’s why the Thompson Charity Foundation proudly supports RISE2 - Restart In a Safe Environment providing safe and secure homes for families impacted by domestic and family violence on the Sunshine Coast.
