It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Rebecca Melifont after her courageous battle with breast cancer. 💔

Bec has been a dedicated supporter of the Mother’s Day Classic, turning her own journey into a mission to help others and contribute to a future free from breast cancer.

Through her Mother’s Day Classic team this year, Becs Battalion, inspired family, friends, and supporters to come together to raise vital funds for breast cancer research.

We were incredibly proud to share that Becs Battalion raised more than $3,000 alone and received the award for the highest fundraising team—an achievement that reflects the generosity, determination, and community spirit that Bec inspired in so many people.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Rebecca’s family, friends, teammates, and all who knew and loved her. Her strength, courage, and unwavering commitment to making a difference will leave a lasting legacy.

Rest peacefully, Bec. Your impact will never be forgotten. 💗

🌸💖What an absolutely incredible Mother’s Day at the Sunshine Coast Mother’s Day Classic 💖🌸

As the event organiser along side the lovely Hayley King, We are beyond grateful to every single person who showed up, donated, volunteered, sponsored, fundraised, walked, ran and supported this amazing cause. Over 500 of you!! 🙏

Last year I said to everyone I can’t run this event again. The stress, anxiety, sleepless nights trying to arrange an event of this scale whilst working full time and being a single mum to is too much!
But,, then the day comes. I see all of your beautiful smiling, happy and excited faces and it makes it all worth it. I don’t think I can ever step aside now. 🫶 🌻
As our event grows we will definitely need more committee members to help us, but we can do it! 🙌

Hayley sadly lost her mum to Breast Cancer and As a breast cancer survivor diagnosed in my 30s, this event means more to me than words can explain. Breast cancer doesn’t just impact people during treatment — survivorship can be incredibly hard too. The fear of recurrence, the anxiety, the emotional and physical scars, and the constant “what ifs” can stay with you long after treatment ends.
I want the Sunny Coast community to know that, if you are going through cancer treatment, we see you. We are here for you. And we want you to know that you are never alone.

That’s why events like this matter so much. They help fund better research, better treatment, and ongoing support for those currently fighting cancer and those learning how to live beyond it.

Today was about hope, awareness, remembrance, strength, community and reminding people they are never alone.

Thankyou to the sponsors and our incredible volunteers. Our amazing MC and all of you for making this day so awesome!
