At Sonika, we're all about the all-ages live music scene: music and events for young people, by young people. We encourage your comments and input, but ask that you please behave in a responsible, respectful manner. If necessary, we will review and

remove any comments that:

• Contain obscene, indecent or profane language
• Contain threats or defamatory statements
• Contain hate speech directed at race, colour, s*x, s*xual orientation, ethnicity, age, religion or disability
• Are spam-like in nature or clearly off-topic
• Harass or bully
• Are trolling or intend to deliberately disrupt a conversation
• Are otherwise inappropriate or offensive
• Break the law (including violation of copyright laws) or encourage others to do so

People who repeatedly breach these guidelines will be blocked. If the breach is considered to be serious, we may choose to block users immediately.

We are hosting 3 local live bands and plus elder emo DJ Wishy Washy spinning all the classic emo, pop-punk and alt-rock bangers in between!

Pride Month is just around the corner and we are so excited to let you know that the Ballarat Youth Pride Ball is BACK for LGBTIQA+ young people and their friends aged 12 to 18!
In 2026 you can expect some of the same things - performers, a DJ, crafts, quiet spaces, photobooth - and a few new things, like a different venue!
As usual the venue will be announced via email a few days before the event, to ensure that everyone has a safe and fun time. Remember, you must register to be able to attend.

Brand new regional live music series Victorian Vibes will kick off right here in Ballarat next Saturday 18 April from 11am-6pm!

A top-secret line-up of contemporary music artists will perform FREE pop-up sets in brilliantly unexpected locations across the Ballarat CBD.

Artists and exact locations will be announced in the lead-up to the gigs.

Victorian Vibes comes off the back of last summer's Melbourne Vibes, which saw the likes of Jimmy Barnes, The Teskey Brothers, Guy Sebastian, Mallrat and Adalita light up streets and laneways across the Melbourne CBD.

Calling all alt-rock high school bands!

AUTO‑TUNE is an award-winning fusion of a live rock gig and theatre, all centred around a teenage, Silverchair‑obsessed muso and his band.

The creators at re:group performance collective have always dreamed of having a real band of high schoolers play after their show, like they’re the opening act for someone else, and we’re more than happy to make that dream a reality.
So… Ever wanted to rock out on stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre Ballarat?

This Saturday the 7th of March we are at Ballarat Begonia Festival (City of Ballarat) presenting youth act Callum Teal! Drop by the 3BA Sound Garden at 4:30pm to catch Callum's set!

Callum is 17 years old and is performing his all-original music, inspired by musicians like John Frusciante, The Smiths, and Tame Impala. Working with multiple layers of live loops to build a rich sound you would not expect from a solo guitarist.
