ARTIST SPOTLIGHT - VOX CORE

VOX is a non-profit choral ensemble, established in 2005, with the intention of singing challenging choral works across Ballarat, Melbourne and Western Victoria. With a regular core membership of 8 Voices (SSAATTBB) this is a close-knit ensemble where members share the responsibilities of music selection, preparation and direction of each program.
HOWEVER, in 2026 VOX are exploring a VOXCollective model, to enable a wider range of singers from across the community to experience singing with the ensemble, gaining new skills and experience from VOXs shared experience that they can take back to the other choirs they perform in. The FEMME program is our first attempt at this, and will allow us to work with a large group of treble voices from across the Ballarat Region.

At the core of this program are our VOX Core treble voices and we are pleased to introduce them here today. Alison Ho (Soprano) Amber van Dreven (Alto) Lyndell Allen (Mezzo, conductor of FEMME)

VOX Collective presents ‘FEMME’.

The VOX sopranos and altos from Ballarat-based vocal group VOX, together with past members of VOX, VOXPlus, and singers from across Ballarat collaborate to present FEMME a program which celebrates the strengths of all things feminine; not just female, but the feminine in all the earth and the whole of humanity.

Themes of strength, resilience, love, connection, nature, and truth run throughout the program. Repertoire is drawn from a broad selection of composers throughout the ages; from the 12th-century German Benedictine abbess, mystic, and polymath, Hildegard of Bingen, to Australian composers of note including Sally Whitwell, Alice Chance, Kate Miller-Heidke/Dan Walker and Juliana Kaye.

Internationally recognised Ballarat composer, Rosalie Bonighton, is represented alongside new works commissioned by VOX from diverse and emerging composers who have connections to Ballarat, and VOX at their core, Paige Duggan and Sebastian ‘Bas’ Allen. There are also pieces from around the world that celebrate all things FEMME.

Join us at ‘FEMME’ for a feast of beautiful and powerful feminine music choral music!
