Vivien Hodgins Foundation

Vivien Hodgins Foundation Vivien Hodgins: 1954-2009

The Vivien Hodgins Foundation has two main objectives. (More details soon to be released).

The ‘Vivien Hodgins Foundation’ has been established to honour the memory of Vivien Hodgins, a devoted mother, wife and teacher in Ballarat who died tragically in the September 2009 tsunami that hit the Samoan village of Lalomanu. The first objective has been to establish a perpetual arts scholarship which is awarded to students who excel and demonstrate unrealized potential in an arts related fie

ld. Vivien’s devotion to the performing arts and the opportunities for young people to contribute to culture and society through engagement in drama, media and performance has led to the establishment of a scholarship that provides assistance to eligible students to pursue their career in performing arts and is awarded each year. The Vivien Hodgins Foundation second objective is to strengthen our existing relations with our Pacific neighbours and promises to enable student exchange and interaction on developmental and educational projects. This also incorporates providing targeted assistance for the people of Samoa, whose tragic loss of life and livelihood followed the devistation of the same Tsunami that tragically took Viviens life. Through connections established by Vivien and her daughters’, Stephanie and Carla Hodgins – May with Non Government Organisations already established in Samoa, funding of worthy projects to help rebuild the country are under way.
