The Australian Street Rod Federation is a non-profit, voluntary organisation which has pledged itself to the promotion and development of street rodding in Australia. Its primary objective is to increase the number of street rods and customs in Australia by assisting members to build, register and insure their vehicles. To achieve this, the ASRF is committed to promoting and developing street rodding as a major national hobby.

R U OK Day. 💙

This community's more than just cars. It's the mate who turns up early to help you finish a job. The one who checks in without needing a reason. The conversations at a rod run that end up meaning more than either of you expected.

If you've got a mate in this community, whether he's deep in a build, out on the road, or just around at the meets, take five minutes today and ask how he's really going. Not the "yeah good mate" kind of good, the real answer. Sometimes that's all it takes to make a difference.

We look out for each other here, in the shed, at the shows, and everywhere in between. So today, check in on your mates. Tomorrow, keep doing it too.

Happy Father's Day from all of us at the ASRF!

To every dad who's ever handed over a spanner without being asked, taught a kid to change a tyre before they could drive, or spent a Saturday in the shed just because that's where the good conversations happen. 🔧💙

For a lot of us, it wasn't just about the car. It was about the time spent working on it together, the stories passed down bonnet to bonnet, and the love of this hobby getting handed from one generation to the next.

Whether your old man got you into cars, or you're the one now passing it on to your own kids, today's for you.

Not just a hobby, it's a lifestyle, and it usually starts with dad.

Back to Mildura, 1981.

Winding the clock right back to the 1981 ASRF Street Rod Nationals. Different decade, same magic, great cars, good mates and a whole lot of street rodding history in the making.

Over 40 years on and the passion has not slowed down one bit.

Friday Feature time, and this week we're handing the spotlight to Simon Smith.

Simon's taken on something pretty special, a 1937 Dodge Delivery, and the history behind it is as good as the build. This car is one of just three built for mobile radio broadcasting during World War Two, used around the New South Wales and Victorian border. The original wooden frame even had press studs for blackout sheets, so the crew could work at night without the light giving them away.

Fast forward to today and Simon is giving it a proper new life, 100 percent in his own backyard shed, just having a good old Aussie crack at it and always learning. That's the ASRF spirit right there.

For those who love the detail, it's running a 408ci stroked small block Mopar with a 6/71 supercharger and rare Fisher 8 throttle body EFI, a Torqueflite 727 with a Genie shifter, a fully boxed and strengthened original chassis, and a Ford 9 inch out back. It'll finish with su***de doors and bucket seats front and rear.

Thanks for sharing this one with us, Simon. A cracking build with a real piece of history at the heart of it.

Let's wind it back to the 2004 Victorian Hot Rod Show.

The cars were something special, but it's the faces that really tell the story. The builders, the families, the mates and the familiar smiles that made our community what it is today.

Some of these folks are still rolling with us, and some are no longer here, but every one of them helped shape the ASRF and the hobby we love. That's a legacy worth remembering.
