Masterplan for Omeo not acceptable!
Omeo Historical Society is the manager of the AM Pearson Historic Park, also known as the Omeo Justice Precinct. The Society advocates for all heritage sites and values in the district. Omeo Returned Services League represents the cultural heritage of the Soldiers Memorial Hall at Omeo.
The Omeo Historical Society and the Omeo RSL respectfully ask that the masterplan proposal that affects the Omeo Justice Precinct and Civic Centre being put forward for approval by East Gippsland Shire Council not be accepted.
The masterplan if accepted would allow the possibility of permanent damage to the fabric of the Omeo Justice Precinct and the commercialisation of a Crown Land reserve and possible nationally significant heritage site.
The masterplan if accepted would allow the possibility of the Civic and Community heart of Omeo, including the Library and Soldiers Memorial Hall, to be sold and demolished.
These two examples, of many, are simply unacceptable to us. This plan must not proceed.
Omeo Historical Society is circulating a petition against this proposal - if you can help by obtaining signatures, please contact the Society on 0417 565 503
