πŸ”’ New Security Upgrades at RDA Alice Springs πŸ”’

We’re excited to share that RDA Alice Springs has recently upgraded our security with the installation of new security cameras across the facility.

These important improvements help us keep our participants, volunteers, horses and equipment safe β€” and ensure we can continue delivering our programs with confidence.

This project would not have been possible without the generous support of the Northern Territory Government through the BizSecure Grant. We are incredibly grateful for their investment in community organisations like ours.

A very special thank you to Alex and his team at Elite Security & Communications, who went above and beyond to deliver a fantastic result. Your professionalism, attention to detail and willingness to help made the whole process seamless β€” we truly appreciate it!

If you’re looking for security or communications work, we cannot recommend Alex highly enough β€” give him a call on πŸ“ž 0484 336 103

Thank you again to everyone involved in helping make RDA Alice Springs a safer place πŸ’™

Last Friday, our Committee Chair, Liz Bird, attended the Mparntwe Alice Springs Community Foundation event at the Alice Springs Golf Club, where RDA Alice Springs was proud to be a recipient of this year’s Give2Give campaign.

The Give2Give program supports the incredible work already happening across our communityβ€”backing local clubs, organisations, volunteers, and ideas that help strengthen Alice Springs every day.

We are incredibly grateful for their support and the positive impact this funding will have on our programs.

Keep an eye on our socials for updates on our partnership with the Mparntwe Alice Springs Community Foundation and the work ahead.

🌟 International Day of Persons with Disability 🌟

Today we join the global community in recognising the incredible strength, spirit, and achievements of people with disabilities β€” here in Central Australia and around the world.

At RDA Alice Springs, we see these achievements every single day.

From smiles in the saddle to newfound confidence, independence, and connection β€” our riders inspire us with their courage, determination, and joy. πŸ’›πŸ΄

We also want to celebrate the village behind them:
✨ Our dedicated volunteers
✨ Our incredible horses
✨ Families, carers, support workers
✨ Local businesses and community partners

Together, we make inclusion possible.
Together, we create opportunities.
Together, we ride.

Today, we recommit to building a community where every person has the chance to participate, grow, and shine β€” both in and out of the arena.

This weekend we’re proud to welcome the RDA Alice Springs to the Alice Springs Turf Club as part of National Thoroughbred Weekβ€” a celebration of purpose, possibility, and the incredible second careers of off-the-track Thoroughbreds.
Come and meet two of the stars making a real difference in our community:
Zola (formerly Centre Consul)
At 16, Zola has worn many hats β€” dressage, show jumping, trail riding β€” and now she shines in her most meaningful role yet. Calm, steady and endlessly patient, she supports riders of all abilities with confidence and kindness. Her racing career was short, but her impact beyond the track is huge.
Joey (formerly Pre-emptive)
Once a cheeky racehorse with 73 starts and more than $171,000 in earnings, Joey has transformed into a true gentleman. Since retiring in 2020, he’s embraced dressage, jumping and mounted games β€” and now brings that talent and heart to RDA sessions, helping riders grow, learn and thrive.
Events like this remind us what makes the Turf Club so special β€” community connection, purpose, and the power of horses to bring people together.
If you’re at the track this weekend, keep an eye out for these two incredible Thoroughbreds who continue to inspire long after their racing days are done.

🌟 We are so proud of our very own Alice Bird! 🌟

A huge congratulations to Alice on being named the 2025 TRNT Off The Track Aftercare Award Recipient! πŸ†πŸŽ

Alice has been part of the RDA Alice Springs family for nearly nine years, sharing her passion and knowledge as a dedicated coach β€” and bringing her love of Thoroughbreds into everything she does. Many of our beautiful horses are ex-racehorses who’ve found a second chance thanks to Alice’s care, patience, and belief in what they can offer beyond the track. πŸ’™

From all of us at RDA Alice Springs β€” congratulations, Alice! We’re so lucky to have you as part of our team and community. πŸ΄πŸ’š

πŸ† Congratulations to Alice Bird – 2025 TRNT Off The Track Aftercare Award Recipient πŸ†

TRNT Off The Track is proud to recognise Alice Bird as the 2025 recipient of the Aftercare Award, celebrating her dedication to retraining, rehoming and supporting Thoroughbreds across the Northern Territory.

Based in Alice Springs, Alice has played an important role in giving retired racehorses a fresh start and meaningful second careers. Over the years she’s rehomed or retrained around twenty Thoroughbreds, from horses coming straight off the track to those already enjoying life after racing.

Alice has been part of the Greg Connor Racing team for almost two years, strapping plenty of winners and helping horses like Danny Whizbang and Bold Tropic transition into their next chapters beyond racing.

Her passion also extends to her long-time involvement with the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) Alice Springs, where she’s been coaching for nearly nine years. Several Thoroughbreds now form part of the RDA team, helping riders of all abilities build confidence and enjoy the connection that horses bring.

From her first Off The Track horse β€œRocky,” who sparked her love for the breed, to the many Thoroughbreds she’s supported since, Alice continues to make a real difference for both horses and people in the Territory.

Congratulations, Alice β€” and thank you for everything you do for our Off The Track community. πŸ’™πŸŽ
