Alice Springs Beanie Festival The first and best Beanie Festival in the world! A celebration of all things beanie, including its favourite cousin, the tea-cosy.

The Alice Springs Beanie Festival is an annual event that brings together people from all over the world to celebrate everything beanie! Currently in it’s 27th year, the Beanie Festival began as a house party, selling beanies crocheted by Aboriginal women in remote communities. These days, the Alice Springs Beanie Festival has grown into a multi-day celebration where Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal

artists share their culture and exhibit together. The festival’s aims have always been to develop Aboriginal women’s textiles, promote women’s culture, identify the beanie as a regional art form, as well as promote handmade textile arts. Everyone is welcome to get involved in the Beanie Festival. Crafty types can send beanies to the festival and receive 70% of the sales from their beanies. Donated beanies and the remaining 30% from beanie sales go towards supporting indigenous beanie makers throughout Central Australia. Perhaps you have some yarn you'd like to donate, or maybe you'd like to join our volunteer community. 🖼️ Beanie Exhibition & National Competition open 10am–5pm – featuring this year's competition entries plus the spectacular 30-Year Retrospective Exhibition celebrating three decades of beanies!

🧶 Free Crochet Beanie Workshop – 2pm (Araluen Foyer)

🎭 Free Puppet Shows – 12pm, 1:30pm & 3pm
