Northern Territory Police are calling for information following an aggravated robbery at a fast-food restaurant in Northcrest overnight.

At around 9:25pm, a man armed with a large machete entered the restaurant and threatened staff.

Staff took shelter in a back area while the man stole a cash register containing an amount of cash. He then fled on foot towards Knuckey’s Lagoon. No injuries were reported.

Police attended, reviewed CCTV footage and searched the surrounding area; however, the man was not located.

He is described as being of Aboriginal appearance and tall, and was wearing a black hoodie, black pants and tan-coloured shoes.

Several customers were inside the restaurant at the time of the robbery, and police are urging them to come forward.

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 15-year-old male in relation to an aggravated robbery that occurred in June in Alice Springs.

On Friday 5 June 2026, it is alleged a woman aged in her 80s was threatened by a male youth armed with an edged weapon, before he stole her handbag and fled the scene. The victim was uninjured.

Following forensic investigations, the offender was identified and arrested yesterday by Strike Force Viper members.

He was charged with Aggravated Robbery and remanded in custody to appear in court today

Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash in Berrimah overnight.

At around 9:30pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports that a white Toyota Hilux had struck a male pedestrian as he crossed Berrimah Road between the cross-intersection Moo street and Dennis Court.

The driver remained at the scene and returned negative results for both alcohol and drugs.

Police and St John Ambulance attended and commenced resuscitation efforts; however, the man was declared deceased at the scene.

A crime scene was established, and Berrimah Road was closed overnight while detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit examined the scene. The road has since been reopened.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing, including the formal identification of the deceased.

Traffic Incident

Northern Territory Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash in Coolalinga overnight.

At around 10:30pm, police received reports of a crash near a takeaway restaurant at Coolalinga Central.

Police believe a vehicle travelling along the service road beside the Stuart Highway collided with another vehicle as it turned into the service road.

The impact pushed the second vehicle into the car park, where it struck a parked vehicle.

The occupants of the first vehicle left the scene before emergency services arrived.

Firefighters freed the 29-year-old male driver of the second vehicle, who was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 50-year-old man in the parked vehicle suffered minor injuries.

A short time later, a 17-year-old boy contacted police and identified himself as the driver of the first vehicle. He returned a positive alcohol reading and was arrested to undergo further breath testing. He was later released into the care of his mother.

Police believe speed may have contributed to the crash.

Yesterday on the Stuart Highway, north of Emerald Springs (between Adelaide River and Pine Creek)
A road train carrying hay caught fire, and the flames spread to the surrounding grass and scrubland.The driver disconnected the truck from the burning trailers. NT Fire and Rescue, NT Police, and Bushfires NT responded to the scene.

: The Stuart Highway was closed with traffic diverted via Dorat Road. Smoke reduced visibility for drivers in the area.
