The team has started seed multiplication as we prepare for the Isiziba Seedbank. Some of the seeds collected during our learning visit to Matobo are now being planted at the Hub to multiply and preserve them for future use. These include indlubu, indumba and amazambane.

The youth were excited to get their hands in the soil and take part in the process, while learning more about the importance of preserving and passing on our indigenous seeds and the knowledge that comes with them.

Another productive day at the Isiziba Innovation Hub garden.

The team harvested fresh vegetables for sale to the community, cleared some of the existing beds and prepared new ones for planting. Different vegetables, including carrots, were transplanted as we continue experimenting with intercropping and growing a diverse range of crops. Every activity is another opportunity to learn, grow and strengthen our garden.💚😊

One key lesson so far is that a thriving garden requires consistency, regular care, watering, weeding, and monitoring help create the right conditions for plants to grow and flourish.
