Community Foundation for the Western Region of Zimbabwe

Community Foundation for the Western Region of Zimbabwe CFWRZ is an NGO located in the surburb of Northend in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. It operates in the western Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and the Midlands.

History of the Community Foundation for the Western Region of Zimbabwe - CFWRZ rose out of the initiatives of over 50 000 community members who contributed a portion of their meagre savings to establish the Foundation's endowment. Community effort has been a driving force for development in the region of western Zimbabwe i.e. This development effort has not had access to sufficient resources to ac

In this regard, little has been done to build local management and strategic thinking. It was therefore widely agreed that a resource building Foundation is key to addressing this issues

The Bulilima Market Centre, located at Ndiweni Business Centre, stands as a symbol of progress and community empowerment in Bulilima District. Constructed with support from the German Embassy, the local community, and the Insikabayitshiye Building Programme (facilitated by the Community Foundation for the Western Region of Zimbabwe), the project has transformed the lives of over 50 women from Wards 2, 4, and 21.

The centre provides a safe and organised space for women to trade, learn, and grow their businesses turning small enterprises into sustainable sources of income that support families, education, and community development. On Monday the community was honoured to welcome our German friends, who visited the site to witness firsthand the lasting impact of their support. Their visit reignited the spirit of collaboration and reminded us of the power of partnership in driving sustainable rural development.

The Bulilima Market Centre continues to serve as a hub for entrepreneurship, cultural exchange, and local empowerment, proof that when communities and partners unite, transformation follows.

As we head toward the closing of schools, this doesn’t mean we should also close our books and start playing around. This is a time to pause, reflect, and reset. You are the future of this continent, the leaders, innovators, and change makers that Africa is waiting for. Use this break wisely. Read a book, learn a new skill, volunteer, help your parents, or even rest but don’t lose sight of your dreams. Your journey doesn’t stop when school closes it continues with every decision you make daily...
